"We have a responsibility for oversight."
Exactly. These cronies in congress are turning a blind eye to illegal activity.

(1,406 posts)Am so damned grateful for her position as Speaker, to take on this long walk out of the trickery & hell the Republicans dragged our country into.
No on knows the pathway out like she does.
Thank you Speaker Pelosi.

(82,849 posts)Also harp on the need to ferret out the Republican holy trinity of "waste, fraud, and abuse."
Democrats have two years to build a case for why both parties aren't the same. I'd like to see the House pass bill after bill of popular stuff that Republicans hate, so the Senate can shoot them all down. Then, in 2020, you have the ads ready-made: We tried to rein in an out-of control president, but the Republicans in the Senate stopped every countermeasure we proposed. We tried to enact reasonable gun regulation to hamper more mass shootings, but the Senate, under its Republican majority representing a small minority of voters, voted to keep putting deadly weapons into the hands of the violent and the deranged. We voted to expand the Affordable Care Act so more Americans would be covered, but Republicans in the Senate wouldn't even give those measures a hearing.
And so on. And so forth.
