Mea Maxima Culpa

After being on this site for more than 10 years, I have survived some of the most nasty flame wars and food fights that were the hallmark of the early years of DU. I watched as good friends were tomb stoned and cheered as some of the more obnoxious warriors were kicked to the curb, and pleaded and signed petitions to get people reinstated.
I've somehow managed not to knowingly offend or go so far out that the mods or administration were alerted to my behavior. But, that changed today.

I posted an item today that drew the ire of a member and a jury voted unanimously to hide the post. That in itself is bad enough, but, the comments of the jurors caused me to really feel chastened, and sorry for my action.

I am not homophobic nor do I have any respect or tolerance for those that are-- and I have dozens of friends here and in my life that will attest to that fact-- but according to the consensus of the jurors the post would suggest otherwise.

Even though the offensive picture was sent to me and many others-both gay and straight-by a gay man, I apologize to any and all that found it inappropriate or suggestive. It was not my intention to be hurtful or rude and promise to consider more carefully what may or may not be offensive to some in the general public.

Again....my sincere apologies to our community.

I, too, made a mistake like this once before......we all will slip up every once in a while, really.
But you took the time to apologize, and for that, you are a better person.
