She just said,
Guess what? It's a wave. It's a blue wave. The Republicans got the biggest trouncing in a mid-term since Watergate. It's a big, blue wave. It turned out to be....a blue wave.
She must've said it five times!
Then Joe sarcastically said, "And Trump did say this election was about him." Mika, "Yes, he did. And it was a blue wave."
She said, "In the House...it was a WAVE."
She kept saying it!

(269,188 posts)Still it's fun watching them taunting him about this 'humiliating loss' this morning.
Can't wait to see which ReTHUG publicly ditches him first.

(37,648 posts)She said it over and over. And Joe enjoyed chiming in that Trump DID say that this election was about him.
A good moment.
The biggest Republican trouncing since Watergate. That seems appropriate, doesn't it?

(14,961 posts)He is also likely watching. I have my issues with them at times, it's like a roller coaster. Today was a very good day watching them.

WE DID IT! The people turned out and did it. Thank goodness.
And like the song says...there's Lawyers, guns & money headed to Florida to duke it out.

(129,558 posts)MSNBC decided to change the ridiculous "not a wave" / "weak wave" / "split decision" narrative and it generally propagated across most of their hosts.

(37,648 posts)I knew we'd done well, but I wasn't sure what constituted a wave...I was hearing mixed reports. Now I know! It was the most seats lost by Republicans since Watergate! Now I KNOW!

(129,558 posts)1.) Regarding your question in another thread about the "71% of candidates endorsed by Trump losing". It was in this DU thread - https://www.democraticunderground.com/100211396280
That thread links to this - https://gritpost.com/71-percent-trump-candidates-elections/?fbclid=IwAR2_QSAjnZU1utmaF5_Ake7CS380F3TNOaWCLHNken0KmKMbQ-OjGHUrQHM
Brookings had a chart too -
(the above from here - https://www.brookings.edu/blog/fixgov/2018/11/07/trump-endorsed-75-candidates-in-the-midterms-how-did-they-fare-on-election-day/ )
2.) Here was Ari's segment -

(37,648 posts)I'm into politics, but I didn't know the stats well enough to know what would make a blue wave. I'd seen something where some prior Presidents lost more seats in the House, I think, so that made me wonder if we were falling short, coupled with what people on tv were saying.... Although I knew there had been a HUGE turnout.
But now the record has been clarified. This also jives with the HUGE turnout there was.

(129,558 posts)I think the issue of comparisons - the GOP had their 1994 "Contract on America" takeover resulted in a 54 seat pickup by the GOP -
(from here - http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/politics/interactives/campaign06/congress.html)
And then in 2010, they had the teabagger wave, with a 63 seat pickup of the GOP -
(from here - https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2014/10/31/ranking-the-presidents-on-how-completely-terrible-their-midterm-elections-turned-out/?utm_term=.10b307657c71)
But then based on the above, the GOP did even worst in the past, which is why they were out of power in Congress for so long until the '90s...

(459 posts)I think he's sick of the Toad that comes on before him and all of the insanity he was spouting off the night before about how this wasn't an endorsement from voters to hold Trump accountable and investigate him for any and all crimes that he, his family, or his administration likely have participated in. As a legal scholar, I think Ari finds everything about Trump and the way he conducts himself to be offensive to the rule of law and all that he values.
Ari and Lawrence are the most honest hosts on MSNBC and relish in calling out The Crimson Clown for the fraud that he is (Maddow and Hayes are great, too, but it doesn't seem as personal for them).

(37,648 posts)Joe is Republican (although he re-registered as an Independent), Mika is Democrat. It's supposed to represent both parties. So they aim to have guests from both major parties.
