Because I believe that a few incremental compromises in bills that are in their totality destructive, and the ensuing familiar press photo ops of Nancy and Mitch grinning like cheshires, almost raising their hands together in victory.....is not worth it for the long haul. Mitch would use those optics to reign back in moderate Republicans/Independents, as proof they were not so extreme and pigheaded. And they'd still have Trump to get the extremist deplorable votes. Best of both for them.

Meanwhile it would be "moving forward' for Democrats again.

The single most important idea (to me) is Trump really doesn't have a clue. In the past, he has gotten away with stuff and survived. Whether it was divorce, bankruptcy, going away, ignoring events, whatever. His gang of lawyers saved him. Now one of that gang is truly against him.
