Through fights like passing the ACA, @nancypelosi has shown to be a strong and progressive leader, and we shouldnt let a small group of white, moderate men sabotage her. We support Nancy Pelosi for Speaker of the House

question everything
(47,534 posts)claims that as he was traveling the district "it was clear that our communities are hungry for new leadership from both parties in Washington." But I think that he is pedaling back, depending on who runs against her.
At least I told him what i thought of this. And he knows that I made a small donation and voted for him.
Another D who flipped an R said that if Pelosi is the only candidate then, of course, she will vote for her.
I think that if all of us will express our thoughts, that the Young Turks will quiet down. For now.

(33,413 posts)That reply from Stonekettle to the "aren't enthused" comment is dead on. zeruch seems to want a false front for show and Nancy in the background. That's stupid, at best.

One of those endorsement for Nancy from Karen Bass is one of the "females" that the #fiveguys were promoting to take Nancy's job.. Oooops.
The inclusion of Linda Sanchez on that list should have been the first clue that the people trying to rattle the most effective Speaker of the House in generations are pathetic power players. Linda Sanchez ended her pursuit of leadership in the Democratic caucus six days ago - after her husband was indicted on federal criminal charges in Connecticut. That Moulton was floating her name yesterday is indication that this group is not just behind the ballgame, they dont even read the news.
Rep. Marcia Fudge has been out on the speaking circuits trying to accuse Pelosi of not paying attention to issues of race, but it will prove to be difficult as (a) Fudge has not yet declared her candidacy for speaker, and (b) black women in the House largely line up behind Pelosi, including the iconic Barbara Lee and Maxine Waters.
That leaves Karen Bass. In my judgment, Bass would have been the only credible challenger to Pelosi had she chosen to run. Not because of her gender or her race but because she was the only potential challenger who has had a job like this before. Karen Bass served as the 67th Speaker of the California State Assembly from 2008 to 2010, leading the legislature of the largest and most diverse state in the union.

(33,413 posts)Just saw this:
Democrats owe Pelosi the chance to be Speaker. Their plot to deny her of it is foolish.
Although they would deny it, the effort by a number of House Democrats to block Rep. Nancy Pelosi from resuming the speakership that she was forced to relinquish after the 2010 election, bears a resemblance to the acceptance, by some Americans, of the anti-Hillary Clinton narrative peddled on social media by Russian trolls in 2016. In the case of Pelosi, the hostile power that launched the demonization of the Democratic leader was the Republican Party.
GOP campaign organizations dug a rabbit hole that some Democrats eagerly dived into. These Democratic back-benchers in the House who have been mounting a challenge to Pelosi have bought into this grotesque GOP narrative on her and it has soured the growing Democratic majority that has been unfolding since November 6.
Democrats forcing Pelosi from the speakership would be akin to Abraham Lincoln firing General William T. Sherman after he captured the city of Atlanta from the Confederates based on false rebel narratives of atrocities even though the fall of the city enabled Lincoln to win the election of 1864.
