I don't get it. Can't see how some of these recipients have contributed to freedom. And Elvis? Heck, I'm from Memphis. I was a fan. But giving this medal to a rock and roll ghost says exactly what?

(42,759 posts)Obama gave it to Yogi Berra after Berra had died -- and Babe Ruth is at least as deserving as Berra was.

(15,139 posts)the caveat that the death was recent. Don't think Fat Tony deserved it, but at least he died in this century. Elvis died in 1977 and Babe Ruth in 1948. I think those were desperate attempts on Trump's part to find people to give the award to since so many living ones want no part of him. In Elvis's case, Trump couldn't even get a single family member to represent.

(58,785 posts)those who accepted it from Trump have dishonored it and themselves, and somehow I don't think they'll be bragging about it outside their loyal circles post Trump.

(33,198 posts)Adelson disturbs me the most as it's purely political and obviously Orange Julius Caesar gave it to the wifey because he knew giving it to her corrupt husband would cause an immediate uproar... I'm betting Doorman Kelly suggested it.
