What about field reporters? Recurring guests?
Just interested in knowing.

and it said Rachel's salary was $7 million and Lawrence's was $4 million. I guessed around $10 million and $5 million... maybe close, with benefits or options... Some of the guests are on salary and some are not... most office holders appear free, but they get exposure and are "paid" in other ways.

(32,645 posts)Rachel and Lawrence have the highest audience numbers - and desirable demographics as well - so the advertising sponsors are paying a lot. We should make a point of letting these companies know that we've seen their ads on MSNBC and we appreciate their sponsorship. A little positive feedback goes a long way!

(22,756 posts)I really think Rachel Maddow is brilliant, but any one person making that is irresponsible in a land where so many are in want... I certainly believe in merit pay but I also believe in minimum and maximum incomes

(21,107 posts)I don't think so. And who are you OR I to say what she can and cannot do with her money. I would hazard a guess that she does some great work with that money. But, even if she doesn't, it is not my concern.

(31,261 posts)A business person that takes a risk on an idea. He or she pays employees good salary and benefits and bonuses when business is really good. The person also gives time and money to charities. At the end of that the person pockets $10 million from the performance of the business. Do you think the $10 million is wrong?

But government deciding incomes is s disaster. Pretty much all democrats are capitalists.

(24,396 posts)There might be a day rate, like $750 a day, for expert guests, which covers multiple appearances on multiple shows over the course of a day.
Ive tried to research this but havent found any definite answers.

(11,276 posts)This is why we get both sides do it. The media owners know if they pay the news talkers big money they will lean more to the right. No follow up questions and allowing people to rant without being challenged. I cut the cord and don't miss them at all.. Not even our beloved MSNBC.

It would be like me, as a print journalist, paying a source for the quotes I use in my articles. Would you trust the results? Erm, nope. You get nibbles in the green room and transportation, and enough makeup slathered on your face to make everyone you pass on the street afterword look at you as if youd just landed from Mars."
