2/ Stone and Manafort are longtime business partners; we'd expect Manafort to tell Stone what Assange told him, and for him to expect Stone to then pressure the campaign not only to hire him but quickly elevate him.
And who was Stone in touch with at the campaign? Trump himself.
3/ I bet you Manafort's late March emails are very interesting and that some of them are to/from his longtime business associate Roger Stone. And I bet Roger Stone's late March phone calls are very interesting and that some of them are to/from his longtime friend Donald Trump.
4/ At the end of March 2016, Trump suddenly convenes a NatSec meeting. At that meeting he directs his NatSec team to change the RNC platform in July to benefit Putin. Who later takes credit for that change?
Paul Manafort's business associate, Kremlin agent Konstantin Kilimnick.
5/ Why did Donald Trump suddenly convene a NatSec meeting 3 days after he finally hired Manafort? Why did he issue a pro-Kremlin directive at that meeting that Manafort's camp would later take credit for? What did Manafort tell Trump in the days leading up to that NatSec meeting?
6/ A reasonable theory of the case is that Paul Manafort gave Donald Trump information about WikiLeaks' pre-election plans, and that led Trump to days later order a platform change at the RNC that Manafort's circle would later take credit for. That's collusion and a quid pro quo.

(13,877 posts)One couldn't keep this up without a gaggle of those willing to lie, take money, protect someone they are indebted to, employed by, or ideologically bound. Then there is the RNC and a whole bunch of Rs who took a lot of money to be re-elected so they could keep it secret and benefit from The Cretin's Evil Reign.
Remember that Dutch attorney who "merely" lied to the FBI?
Epic, indeed.

(13,877 posts)in multiples of skulduggery and a much bigger net of criminals to be jailed. I don't think any one knows, at this time, the massive con this is or will turn out to be by American people on the unsuspecting American people. But I fervently believe we're about to find out.

Putin runs this show basically and there will come a point where he will order rump and his team to quit pretending and just take over militarily.
We then have to hope more in our Pentagon and military are patriots than not.

(15,257 posts)Those that have risen through the ranks and have completed officer training are probably more loyal to the constitution than most congress-critters.
Everyone talks about the rank and file and how they might be trumpists. 19-21 year-old recruits are still learning and pushing boundaries. They can be non-conformists but they generally learn pretty quickly how to follow orders.
Still, I want a balance between intelligent civil and military control. But if The Dump tries to exert his weight on the US future, I'd bet on the armed services.

(23,102 posts)When push came to shove in Germany, the military despised Hitler and the SS, but they followed orders. That is what the military does. They don't debate ethics or morals, they follow the orders of the CIC. When ordered to tear gas children, did any of the troops refuse, nope, they teargassed babies. If we have to trust the military not to follow drumpfs' orders, we are well and truly screwed, because I'd bet you big money that is exactly what they will do, what they were trained to do, is no questions, just do it. He will tell them we are the enemies, and some will not believe, but they will go along anyway.
I had a friend in Vietnam who was really super bothered by going into villages and killing everyone, even women and children and refused to do it anymore. They put him in the brig for 2 months then let him out to go around in a truck picking up garbage. After a few months of this, they wanted him to go fight again and again he refused. They finally shipped him home and he was discharged. He was the only one in his entire platoon who took that stand. The officerts certainly were onboard with killing anyone and everyone with no questions asked.
I realize shooting at Americans is different, but the mentality of following orders with no questions ever is still there and if ordered, they will kill us with only a few defections. They will be told some lie like we are getting paid by russia or soros to disrupt drumpf and take over America, and it will be enough for them to stomach killing us.

(15,257 posts)I guess I was making mine based upon working with and knowing a lot of mid-level career military personnel.
When it comes down to following orders or following your conscience; being ostracized/court-martialed/losing rank and pay, I suspect that your perceptions are probably more real world.

(23,102 posts)My ex-mother in law was raised in Germany during WW2 and her dad was in the army. We had many in-depth conversations about the German army, Hitler, Hitler youth, Jews, etc. My sister and I also dated military guys for a time during the Viet Nam war so got some of my perspective from those guys as well.
I wish we could count on the military to check traitor drumpf, but for the reasons you note, I strongly suspect they will not be our friends.

(54,770 posts)caught, but not much else. trump was certainly incompetent in hiring all these crooks, but I don't think his supporters care.
What is the blocked call during/after the Trump Tower meeting.
If that is Trump's upstairs phone, it's over.
And I'm positive that Mueller knows the info.

(54,770 posts)It's time to lower the boom on trump, assuming Mueller has the evidence.
But WE don't know the answer yet dammit.
That will be sweet when it comes.
