Donny Deutsch throwaway comment: We may find out if someone told Cohen to lie.

I was listening to Ari Melber's show last night when he had Donny Deutsch on. Deutsch is friends with Cohen. Deutsch made a comment that no one focused on and I haven't seen posted on DU. He said something like "We may also find out if Cohen lied on his own or was told to lie."

This hasn't gotten a lot of attention, but I'm pretty sure it's illegal to instruct somebody to lie to Congress and investigators. And if someone told Cohen to lie, then who is it? I suspect that's the "bigger fish" they are after.

He said he talked to him several times this week. I have noticed that Deutsch is spinning FOR Cohen at times, trying to rehabilitate him now. But what he says is interesting.

I was driving and listening. Among the noteworthy observations: this won’t be over when his “pResidency*” is. Prosecutors will start piling on, chipping away at his “empire” til there isn’t much left. (He actually said “nothing”, not “isn’t much”, but I don’t want to get my hopes up too high). And he further speculated there’d be another 20 years of prosecutions to follow.
