Senate will not consider House Democratic bills to end shutdown: Republican McConnell

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell said on Wednesday the Senate will not consider bills Democrats plan to vote on in the House on Thursday that would end the government shutdown but not include President Donald Trump’s demand for $5 billion for a border wall.

“The Senate will not waste its time considering a Democratic bill which cannot pass this chamber and which the president will not sign,” McConnell said on the Senate floor.

Good plan.

A veritable smorgasbord of what the people need... Every day!

Let's use the Gish Gallop for good. The Republicans have been using it for years and what we've learned from them is eventually some of it makes it's way through.

The majority voted overwhelmingly for Democrats in the midterms. The GOP obstructing everything they try to do will not bode well for them in 2020.

What would you do for a few trillion? All the big donors expect giant returns on their investments. When they buy a Republican, they expect him to stay bought.

Unless he wants to find out how heavy the Trump Anchor tied to his neck really is heh...

The only possible argument is some bullshit about new Senate because New Members, and if they had won 30 seats he might be able to get away with that...as it stands, it will pass, what?, 98 to 2 instead of 100-Zip?

We may not like it, but Yertle runs the Senate, NOT Trumple-thinskin, and he WILL tell the WH to go get fucked if he must. If that ends up working in our favor, I'll take it lol.

Give them a chance to save themselves.

It would be foolish to take the Republicans at their word, and not send anything over to them.

is The House passing a bill and sending it to them. They are trying every childish tactic to stop the country from seeing them and Trump refuse to pass/sign a bill that the Senate already agreed upon. They even had someone in the press crowd after the "meeting" yelling "why would you pass a bill, he wont sign it...". Its laughable at best. A bill will be passed; it will look just like the one the Senate voted unanimously to pass; it will be sent to the Senate.

The Democrats also need to continue taking the angle they did yesterday - and that is that the Congress is a separate, co-equal branch of Government that does not "answer to" the President nor does it wait for his "approval" to pass legislation. They need to be clear that the way the GOP Senators are trying to operate is actually in violation of very basic tenants of The Constitution.

That's the way government works, Mitchie.
You wanted to do the same to President Obama, but you didn't have the numbers back then. Don't tell me you weren't dreaming of that particular slap in Obama's face every night...

This was a unanimous clean CR bill in the Senate, and the House is willing to stand by it (as the Freedumb caucus lost so much power), so there's no reason to think it wouldn't continue to be so the second time around.

Drumpf is just to narcissistic to make it a pocket veto.
Mitch - you're just holding Drumpf's water. Don't try and pretend you want to do the job you were elected to do, you just want that sweet, sweet Russian Mob money and protection - just as you have done over the past decade or so, you corrupt a-hole.
