When the GOPeers BOO her and mock her, that's too far. For dancing? In college? For how looks from behind?
Not to relitigate the internal squabbles about her, but that was internal shit and, to the debaters, had substance to it on both sides of the equation.
What the regressives are doing is pure ad hominem bullshit, misogyny, sexism, and maybe even racist attacks.
If that's all the right wing's got, we're in great shape. Meanwhile, they can kiss my moldy, fat, pasty ass.

(1,975 posts)I learned that one in high school protesting Viet Nam. GO girl!
They target her because she's visible, vibrant and smart. FUCK the GOP - none of them have probably gotten laid unless they paid for it in 20 years.

(21,151 posts)I don't think they fear her, now. Ironically, their attempts to slime her tend to backfire and make her more popular. It's not dissimilar to the Beto O'Rourke punk band picture the GOP tweeted last year. They are making her a hero.

(16,672 posts)I honestly hope she does well because we need her to. But I have never been impressed with 'talk' and that applies to anyone in office - any age, sex, religion etc.. It's put up or shut up time.
I'll be her number one fan if she gets to work, learns and gets stuff done. For now she hasn't been there long enough to do that. Time will tell.

(7,142 posts)because she has that rare ability to change the right wing narrative. That's why they smear Speaker Pelosi, that's why they got rid of Al Franken.
The role of right wing corporate controlled M$M is overlooked.

(26 posts)"Fear her" is a term I really wouldn't apply in this situation.
In fact, they probably welcome her as a new target to focus on now that HRC
is out of the picture.
AOC is the least of their worries, they need to be more concerned with DJT.

(19,566 posts)She just has to be smarter than them. Which isn't difficult.
I will say the dancing thing was just.. peculiar. I'd almost think that one came from her side originally. I mean, who the hell would honestly think anything is wrong with that?
Answer: not a single normal person.
It made zero sense to me to try and use that as a negative, but it gained her some popularity in areas she didn't have previously.

(42,641 posts)I can understand the use of the other words, but moldy?
Blue_true
(31,261 posts)Sometimes people's skin tend to dry as they get older. But I wouldn't call that moldy. Moldy to me is moist, slimy, smelly, I don't think he meant that.

(7,542 posts)or the Flashdance flashback then we're doing pretty good. It's the political operators, the Rahm Emanuels of the party of which I'm wary. The old-school smoke-filled room style of politics needs to fade into the past.

It is not a DU problem, it is every forum on the net. The internet itself has been transformed from a marvel of information access to a horror show of disinformation dissemination.

(1,907 posts)do their jobs so I suppose making fun of women is their thing now? Especially the YOUNG ones? Their days are over. And this young lady has spunk. And also, I am saying this as an older, white woman! An older, white Democrat woman, that is.

(2,009 posts)So AOC is somehow at fault for dancing in public
And they boo her on the house floor
And Talib is awful for using language in private that has also been used by the president himself on camera.
And Hillary/Elizabeth/Nancy all are just too "unlikeable"???
They fear and despise powerful confident women. Instead of buying into that, we need to just let them stew in it.
Would anyone have given a second's attention to any of these stories about a male politician?
peggysue2
(10,837 posts)In fact, Nancy Pelosi asked that very question: If Talib were a man would there be the same 'outrage?' The hypocrisy is stunning because the Republican Party's leader--Trumpski--has a notorious foul mouth. The man's faux disgust with the comment was almost funny. "Disgraceful," he said.
No sir, you're the disgrace!
With AOC, the alt-right screeds usually refer to her as a Commie. That's an attempt to smear all Democrats. But her gender and her unwillingness to wilt under the verbal assaults is an obvious tripwire for these goons. The whole campaign has been counter-productive. Their attacks are making her more popular and attractive, not less.
