It's looking more and more like the FBI had no choice but to wait until this Congress was sworn in

to drop the hammer on Trump and Pence.

President Pelosi will not cut a deal with them for pardons like Paul Ryan would have to save the GOP.

Didn't we know the FBI was investigating him?

What's NEW about this?

And if they've been investigating since 2017, has there been no determination?

But if they've been waiting for the House Dems to be in charge, well, that's more understandable. It's sort of horrifying, though, that they figured the House GOPers could hear that Trump was a Russian asset and they'd bury it.

putin’s Behalf to promote Russian goals and undermine The US.

We knew the Trump campaign was being investigated about working with Russia to get him elected.

We knew he was being investigated for obstruction of justice for firing Comey etc.

We did not know he was being investigated to find out whether he a Russian agent working for Russia to undermine the US

So that’s what’s new.

I agree we all did assume that. I am still shocked about this article in the NYT, even though I assumed it. Unprecedented for a President to be subject of a counterintelligence investigation.

That is a huge deal

Lots of people aren’t on DU though or as engaged as we are, so it will be big news to them I think.

with other things to have paid attention.

Others have their heads in the sand because they don't want to know.

And others bought into the idea that, as someone said on TV tonight, the idea that Trump was committing these acts IN PLAIN SIGHT just seemed too "improbable." Like something out of a crime novel, not real life.

As emulatorloo pointed out above, this is BIG news for most people, who are not nearly as informed and engaged as we are. Most people simply don't pay attention the way we do. Their focus is elsewhere.

I think this is part of a necessary process of bringing the rest of Americans to a point of understanding that will be crucial to their ability to comprehend what is about to be revealed, because it will be shocking, even for us, I believe.

and assuming it might be bad for the investigation.

I'm not so sure about that. I think they might be trying to prepare us for what is bound to be a shock to most people, when all the details finally come out.

if and only if they had some evidence of even larger corruption within Congress.
That aside I do not think we will see Pelosi become President as Trump and Pence are more likely to pull a Nixon and have Trump resign and receive a pardon from Pence and then have Pence serve out the final few days of Trumps term in office.

Someone posted a thread about the Constitution
Article 2 , Section 4
But that looks like a great start if they invoke it.

The President, Vice President, and all civil Officers Of the United States Shall be removed from Office on
Impeachment for Treason, Bribery, of other High Crimes and Misdemeanors.

Ty to the poster who posted this earlier.
