Princeton study - guess who is most likey to share fake news?

You already know the answer.

https://www.newscientist.com/article/2190204-did-older-facebook-users-sharing-fake-news-really-help-elect-trump/??utm_medium=NLC&utm_source=NSNS&utm_campaign=2019-0111-GLOBAL-NSDAY&utm_content=NSDAY

Now we have another small piece of the puzzle. A team in the US has looked at how many Facebook users shared fake news in 2016 and who they were.

Andrew Guess at Princeton University and colleagues sent an online survey to 3500 people in the US during the 2016 election campaign. They persuaded 1300 to temporarily share their Facebook profile data showing what stories they shared. “That’s actually way higher than we expected,” says Guess.

The results suggest that Republicans over the age of 65 were seven times more likely to share fake news than respondents of any political leaning aged between 18 and 29. “You want to be careful not to confirm your biases,” says Guess. “But this could be one of those cases where the data confirm what people suspect.”

My aunt is a 76 year old Republican who watches the local Fox affiliate all day and swallows whole any fear-based theme from the right. She won't even stop and consider that it could be fake or wrong
