(5,106 posts)let alone an elderly one. Then there was his barging into the White House ahead of Melania, after his inauguration, leaving the Obamas to graciously usher her in. Shoving dignitaries from other nations out of his way, while fixing his tie for a photograph would have been ignorant for anyone. High school dropouts with semi responsible parents have better manners. I know, having taught "at risk" teenagers. Trump combines ignorance of any normal manners with the grandiosity he obviously believes is his due. I have no way of knowing, but I'm pretty sure Hitler, Stalin, Castro, et al, had better manners than Donald. He's a major disgrace to as all.

(5,270 posts)Republicans and Trumpers have refused to acknowledge Trump's Putin affinity that is dangerous for democracy, human rights and freedom of speech and instead tried to make the whole matter about partisan politics with false claims that Mueller and his team and FBI official Comey, McCabe, Strzok, Page and others just didn't like Trump because they were Hillary supporters.

(10,183 posts)I think that without lttle Putin's advice and counsel, Traitor Trump would have either gone off the edge totally or would have been easier to handle like crazy Reagan was.
I suspect that the rich US capitalist oligarchs thought Traitor Trump was going to be just another easily manipulated president who would do their bidding like W and Reagan. I think they (RepubliCons and the uber rich oligarchs) stacked the FBI under Bush1 with their supporters, at least in leadership positions, and weren't looking too closely at Traitor Trump.
They were use to traitors afterall. Look at Nixon preventing the end of the Vietnam war, while our soldiers died, like Reagan selling arms to drug dealers and negotiating with terrorist to win an election, Bush pardoning all the criminals involved in Iran contra and saving his own ass, and W rigging elections and conning his daddy's supreme court to give him the presidency, then torturing people.
They ignored or even participated in these violations of law. So, they were willing to put up with a criminal. But a Russian spy and traitor is a bridge too far because he attacks them too. Can't destroy a whole country unless you destroy their federal law enforcement too. Little Putin thought the FBI would just go along with Traitor Trump cause they have gone along with all the other crimes with other presidents.
Sorry for the rant. The FBI just makes me angry.

The Electoral College was created to be a buffer between the population and the appointment of the President. The founding fathers feared a tyrant could con public opinion and come to power. That they would fall for trumpery.
*(Just think they were given much of this information and appointed Trump anyway. It seems the educated populace was smarter than the partisan hacks who voted for party first and the country be damned.)
It is also time to question the whole 2016 election, from dog catcher to senator.
From gerrymandering, voter supression, fraud (yes they get convicted of it, what they holler about they are guilty of), hacked computers, and yes the GOP owned voting machines.
Question, if the democrats had that many votes for representatives why would those same people vote for GOP senators? So Trump's agenda can still move forward. The appointment of judges being the most important.
This system is broke and needs fixed or abolished.
*Correction: I thought they got the intel. There was a letter sent to have them briefed on the Russian interference but it was denied by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. Sorry.

(7,142 posts)There were a number of small states that were threatening to leave the union. The Electoral college was created to keep our union from falling apart. Today that threat is gone and the smaller states are more than fairly represented by being given the same number of Senators as the larger states. California gets 2 Senators and Montana gets 2 Senators. There is no need for an EC, whoever gets the most votes should win.

(50,276 posts)but I've been watching both CNN and MSNBC and haven't heard a peep. They're covering the shutdown, of course, but ultimately having a treasonous POTUS is even more important than that.
On edit - MSNBC just mentioned it at the top of the hour.

(7,142 posts)All of cable news is controlled by and pushes the far right wing narratives. Football will be on soon, by Monday there will be some other shiny object to distract us from the fact that our president and the Republicans in Congress are Putin puppets.

(7,142 posts)There is football on this weekend. By Monday there will be another Trump shiny thing to divert our attention.
Putin's puppet is being supported by Republicans in Congress and the M$M. My daughter has become distraught and I don't blame her when she says, "no one ever does anything."
Putin's puppet should have been impeached by now but the M$M narrative is, we have to proceed cautiously. Do we? The slower we proceed the more damage Trump does to our institutions, the more damage he does to our democracy, the more right wing cronies he puts in our courts.
Trump got orders from Putin to withdraw our troops from Syria. When Bibi found out he was furious. Trump was faced with the decision to obey Putin or to listen to our ally Israel. The choice was easy for Trump, he chose to do what Putin asked him to do.
We all need to keep linking the GOP to Trump, and keep linking them to Putin. We need to keep asking if the GOP is getting money from Putin?
Hearings start Tuesday to confirm Barr as AG. This is the guy who advised George H.W. Bush to pardon 6 people involved in Iran/Contra, these 6 people should have gone to jail. Also, George H. was also involved in Iran/Contra.
I have no doubt that Barr will be approved by Putin bought Republicans. Geez I wish Al Franken were still there in the Senate to interrogate Barr. Too bad AOC wasn't a Senator and on that committee. Without Franken or AOC we will proceed cautiously I'm sure.

(11,885 posts)Money laundering, election fixing, prostitutes, drug use, corruption, or could be all of it with tax evasion here and organized crimes, and conspiring with an enemy against the USA. He must be pretty desperate and depressed now and scared its all over. Everyone has been thinking he's been working for putin for awhile now, and compromised, and along with some republican members of Congress too. No wonder Graham is acting so buggy.

(7,142 posts)People are saying, I don't know, but people are saying, that his divorce case with Ivana is sealed, and one of the reasons it was sealed was to hide the fact that Trump had a nervous breakdown. Now, did that happen, I don't know, I don't think it happened but maybe it could have happened.

(7,432 posts)this NYT-released article seems like old news. The NYT only puts the information out there as the newspaper of record. So now we can recognize it as "conventional wisdom." BFD. If the FBI DIDN'T investigate Trumpy's affiliations with Russia, they'd be sleeping on the job. Trumpy's gotten one pass after another because the GOP leadership has been getting millions from Russia as well, so they've been keeping quiet, hoping that no one notices. And let's not forget the MSM's persistent pattern of minimizing Trumpy's treasonous behavior. That's been going on for years and it's still going on.
