Former FBI Director James Comey shared a quote from former President Franklin D. Roosevelt about judging one by the enemies they make after President Trump issued his latest round of attacks aimed at Comey on Saturday.

His tweet came hours after the president renewed his criticism of the former FBI director with a series of tweets and a White House statement blasting the nation's former agency chief.
Trump's latest criticism followed a late Friday report from The New York Times detailing how the agency launched an investigation into whether Trump was acting on the direction of Russia after firing Comey in 2017.
After ousting Comey from the FBI, Trump told NBC News at the time that the decision was made due to Comey's handling of the Russia investigation. The Times reports that the decision and Trump's subsequent explanation so alarmed FBI agents that a probe was immediately launched focusing on the president himself.
"Wow, just learned in the Failing New York Times that the corrupt former leaders of the FBI, almost all fired or forced to leave the agency for some very bad reasons, opened up an investigation on me, for no reason & with no proof, after I fired Lyin James Comey, a total sleaze!" Trump tweeted Saturday morning.
Subsequent tweets from the president attacked Comey's character, referring to the former FBI chief as a "crooked cop" who Trump argued had overstepped his authority at the Justice Department.

(102,289 posts)a pretty clear understanding of what drove him to take the actions he did.
That said, it is clear to me that he 'gets' it and is clearly as determined as we all are to expose Trump for what he is and to fight back.
I don't count him among our opponents for that reason.

(27,813 posts)Once when she got her convention bump and then riy before the election.
I still remember how my heart dropped the second time. If he would at least admit he caved to pressure from Giuliani, it would help, bit I think he has too hit an opinion of himself to do that.
He was also an admirer of John Ashcroft, which doesn't speak well of him.

(10,500 posts)That alone should have sent a clear signal to Obama and Biden that Comey was not the right man for the job.

(27,813 posts)I think the Obama administration dropped the ball here and Biden's comments that he would have beaten Trump are unhelpful.
My sentiments exactly.

(229 posts)unprofessional and something he will never live down. He has clearly seen the light and will be a strong allie against the fascists.

(24,979 posts)Who exactly here is purporting to be the hero of the Resistance? The same Comey who delivered the most important single blow against Clinton just before the election, completely without justification (remember, it was about Weiner's computer and it was bullshit through and through)? Note the rest of the dirt from his career, only some of which has been mentioned here (Ashcroft). Note that Trump never goes after him for the real shit, like the COINTELPRO-style entrapment of Muslims by the FBI. How much of this is an over-hyped mutual antagonism to mutual benefit? In pro wrestling, it's called kayfabe.
He's hardly the only one. With a regime seeking ways to transition to full dictatorship, many of us who want to stop it are sitting here taking inspiration or direction from the surveillance state's head perjurer Clapper, former heads of the U.S. international crime agency CIA, former pushers of the WMD lie, former architects and propagandists of the Bushian war of aggression like Kristol and Frum and Boot, and sometimes even from Bush himself. How short the memories at times seem to be.

(8,231 posts)anyone who reads his tweets from this morning and doesn't think he is guilty is either lying to themselves or won't admit it.
It is common sense - not a fancy degree that would lead you to this conclusion.
