BROOKLYN, N.Y. ― Supporters of Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) held over 400 house parties in all 50 states and Puerto Rico on Saturday afternoon calling on Sanders to run for president again in 2020.
Sanders maintains that he is still considering whether he is the best person to defeat President Donald Trump.
But Saturdays show of force, arranged by Organizing for Bernie ― an upstart group founded by Sanders campaign alumni and grassroots activists ― demonstrated one of the senators biggest advantages if he decides to return to the ring: a network of supporters already familiar with his message and skilled in do-it-yourself internet organizing.
Speaking to the house parties by livestream, Kat Brezler, a Bronx public school teacher and co-founder of the group People for Bernie, called on the participants to use social media to show Sanders the scale of his support with the hashtag RunBernieRun.

(30,814 posts)Although it may be the only way to break the spell he holds over an ever-shrinking number of Dems.
If he runs, his progressive platform will have plenty of competition from candidates who may be more appealing to groups of voters who Sanders alienated in the 2016 primaries. I think he will be sidelined - in spite of intense media attention - and straggle in third or fourth behind stronger candidates.

(145,433 posts)I think that sanders is mainly focused on selling his latest poorly reviewed book. If sanders runs, he will have to comply with DNC rules and actually join the party and agree to run and govern as a member of the party.
In addition sanders would have to comply with Maryland and some other blue states ballot access laws and release full copies of his tax returns. To date, sanders has not released full copies of his tax returns. So far sanders has only released two pages of his 2014 return. I would love to see sanders full tax returns
