How will it end?

We are going through a period of economic strife and tribulation that has the world economy on a knife edge, one gust of wind in the wrong direction and we could all fall into an abyss. Of course, through the centuries man has seen much worse than what we face today and survived. However, as in years gone past we have the doomsayers, the prophecy preachers, the scare mongers and the charlatans. Add to this the climate change deniers, the anti-science religious right and war mongers the world over, add in pinch of Trump and a smidge of Brexit, and the west endlessly meddling in others affairs it is all a bit messy right now.

So how do you think it all ends? A world war using our wondrous favourite weapon of mass extermination? Armageddon? Maybe a Meteor will hit? Or there will be a super volcano? Maybe we will go out with a whimper rather than a bang, a gradual choking of the planets resources eventually making life unsustainable on planet earth? Could it be over population that will do for us? Or some kind of super bug that wipes us all out?

One thing is for sure, in the history of planet earth modern man has been here for a mere speck of time…..if we don’t watch it maybe time will start running out far sooner than we might expect. But we get who we vote for, and when our politicians refuse to accept reality and legislate to protect our natural resources we bring it on ourselves.

Humans have a tendacy to be very self destructive while also destroying other species, the entire environment and available resources. This human destruction has occurred in a moment of geologic time. The sixth mass extinction has already begun largely due to human activity.
