(67,782 posts)As boys did when very young back then (i.e., 1950s!), we drew warships, tanks, and fighter planes. Since I was from the US, I drew a star on the side of my fighters. My cousin drew a star with a stem. Finally I asked him, "what's that line under the star?" He said "it isn't a star, it's a Maple Leaf!"
It never even dawned on me before then that their fighters would have a maple leaf on the side! At the time, this was the Canadian flag:
As for their National Anthem, the best rendition I ever heard was the late, great Roger Doucet's rendition before Montreal Canadiens hockey games (starts at 1:58), it gives one goose bumps! (btw,the words have been changed since your recording, "all our sons command" has been changed to "all of us command".
