Wasn't the story about Rosenstein wanting to wiretap tRump...

about the same time that this counterintelligence investigation started?

It just occurred to me that they're related. Rosenstein called it a joke to appease the orange one, but looking back now...it probably wasn't.

The idea that the Assistant Attorney General would wear a wire to record a meeting with the president is quite ludicrous.

Anyway, that's my take.

In the days following Comey's firing there was the discussion about wiretapping and the 25th amendment. The NYT article talks about the counterintelligence investigation that was opened in that same time frame. I just searched for the articles.

Wiretapping:

This can't be a coincidence. They believed it, IMO.
