Both of our countries are complete trash fires right now

thanks to our respective conservative parties.

Despite our many disputes and differences over the years it’s good for close friends, England and America, to look across the great ocean at each other and remember the fundamental things that bind us:

We are both complete trash fires right now

They meddled with the Brexit vote in the same way as in the Presidential election.

Don't think for a moment that both weren't started and coordinated by a certain cold, snowy, rather drab city in far eastern Europe.

Our citizens were thought more highly of than they should have been based on the election of 2016. We were the admiration of the world in 2008 when Obama was elected. His election gave hope to so may oppressed world-wide. Whether or not he lived up to the world's expectations is beside the point that he engendered feelings of warmth, compassion, and hope.

McConnell smashed all that when he promised to work against everything Obama tried to do. Trump carried out the obstruction promises and went forth. He has practically undone all the good the Obama was able to do despite the GOP-filthy-hate mongers.

I am fearful for Social Security and Medicare recipients and even for Federal retirees. I don't put anything past these MFs

For both, the answer is: racism. And so he pushed and pushed on that. And succeeded beyond his wildest dreams.

For both countries, he asked the citizens to imagine a great, wonderful future if they just indulged their worst racists impulses. And gained political strength that way.

The US also is weak because of the of electoral college, and so Putin made sure to exploit that as well.

I'm embarrassed we were so easy to destroy. It will be interesting to see if our internal strengths are enough to pull us back.
