Pelosi congressional delegation planned to fly commercially to Afghanistan but postponed trip as leaks increased security threat

In a statement Friday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s spokesman Drew Hammill said that the “State Department’s Diplomatic Security Service provided an updated threat assessment detailing that the president announcing this sensitive travel had significantly increased the danger to the delegation and to the troops, security, and other officials supporting the trip.”

Hammill said the administration had leaked the commercial travel plans as well.

On Thursday, President Trump had canceled the military trip by Pelosi and other lawmakers after the speaker had suggested he reschedule his State of the Union address because of the government shutdown.

Why should they shoot down a plane full of civilians when all they have to do is tell the Taiban when it's coming and then sell them the SAM with which to do it?

6. This is NOT the hill for Nancy and other Dems to die on. They should not leave the country until

the shutdown is over. It's bad optics, bad politics, and bad for negotiations. At all times, we Dems must be the ones to be in lockstep with the men and women who are suffering under this shutdown.

Most of the focus at this point should be directed toward Mitch McConnell and the Senate Democrats with little or no distractions from their role in allowing this shutdown to continue.
