He says he's in it to win it.

Of course, whacking him is not an option and should not be discussed at all. After all, they're not THAT bad.
EDIT: I failed to catch that today is basically the deadline to get a new candidate, so that's not an option... But somehow I know that Karl Rove played the closing scene of Network in his head at least once since Sunday. Sorry if I upset anyone.

(96,793 posts)He certainly doesn't have a thing to lose. And he's stupid enough to believe he can win.

(42,770 posts)I actually thought his apology seemed sincere. I am very much a cynic but I thought it was pretty good. It may sway
people....especially with the massive force people are piling on. that amazed me how quickly that happened.

(4,193 posts)Politicians are like the Black Knight from MP and the Holy Grail ("... all right, we'll call it a draw..." : their main job is to project confidence in the face of self-sown whirlwinds. Maybe he's in some kind of Adolf-in-the-bunker type denial, which is natural for professional egotists, but when every figure in the national party is begging you to spend quality time with your family, well, either you poke your sponsors in the eye for 2.5 months and become an international pariah and hire a food taster, or you wake up to a cushy gig at the Heritage Foundation and believe whatever you want to believe.

(31,706 posts)...and he has. I predicted hate radio would rise to his defense and there's Hucklenutz to the "rescue". He's still whistling past the graveyard. I can see Karl Rove sitting on his doorstep begging him to quit as Karl's dream of paying off his big money benefactors by winning the Senate and keeping the House in corporate control goes up in smoke.
Tomorrow will be a very interesting day...
