(269,057 posts)because eastern Florida will be quite fugged if Isaac takes that path.
The worst part of that red track is that it comes from the most accurate forecaster- GFS

(3,299 posts)This is the 1st one this year that has my attention. The others have been, thankfully forgettable!

(14,337 posts)The hotel has already charged our credit card. I really hope if it hits there they give us another date at the SAME RATE.
Even if we stay home, the models show if it hits the Keys, it will hit us in Naples too.

Will be Isaac

(7,044 posts)Issac comes to exact Divine Retribution on Republican Pharisees and their Tampa convention for having had the gall to pretend they actually heed the words of tHe loRd, but hold fast to diaper sex with hookers, and Galilee De-bauch-erey!

(269,057 posts)Neither of us want a hurricane in Tampa but we would enjoy ReTHUG chaos as they run around like headless chickens not sure what to do

(13,985 posts)But I won't panic much. I've been through Wilma, 2 weeks without electricity, that one was bad. Worst can happen is another couple weeks w/o power and shortage of gasoline. No biggie
malaise
(269,057 posts)do not panic.

malaise
(269,057 posts)It's the lack of electricity and water after - the dislocation. That's what we prepare for - indeed we've learned to make it as comfortable as possible

(3,299 posts)from a US perspective is the models seem to agree on pulling
the storm over the mountains of DR/Haiti and then again over Cuba.
This will bring those countries heavy rain and probable flash floods/mud slides. BUT it will stop the storm from becoming a monster. Hopefully. You can never tell.
I'm getting ready already, just in case.

(21,020 posts)in August are always tricky.
My oldest niece is getting married this coming Saturday in/near Orlando.
I think they'll just squeak by with some wind and rain before the real nasty stuff starts.
She should have held it up here in Mass (where she lives) where it will be 83 and mostly sunny.

(39,343 posts)the past two days it has put down 2'' each day and we are already water logged with the rest of the nation in drought. I think the Tropic Belt has expanded towards the poles and we are now part of The Tropics. It would make sense with the drought that is going on in the South and middle of the country. Most of the planet's deserts are just outside of the tropical zone. We are super swampy and overwhelmed by mosquitoes, I'm glad I already take an anti-malaria medication.

(22,000 posts)If it continues that direction it's headed for the Gulf. I hope it doesn't hit NO. The last thing we need is for them to get hit by another powerful storm again.
TBF
(32,067 posts)just got back from vacation so I really hope it doesn't come quite this far west. I really don't feel like loading the car up again ...

(22,000 posts)The Gulf area doesn't need anymore bad news through. The last seven years haven't been good.
I just found out we may be in for a typhoon here in Korea. The damn thing maybe as strong as a category 3. It's still along way away (it hasn't even come close to Okinawa yet) so we are talking next Tuesday.
Since I've been here we've had a couple come all the way up to Seoul. One in September 2010 was bad. Then we had one in July that came close. This one could be much worse than the others.
If anyone's looking for me I'm going to tie myself to a lamppost in Incheon so I can get the full brunt of the storm.
TBF
(32,067 posts)will be thinking of you! Growing up in the midwest we used to ride out the tornadoes in our basements, but Houston is below sea level (and I'm south of the city) so we load up and drive north west for a few hours.
When you come back after 4-5 days it's freaky like a ghost town with store shelves nearly empty and gas stations closed.

(3,299 posts)The Tampa area is mostly in the clear unless the track shifts again to the east. I'm in Sarasota and I'm sure we'll get some heavy bands and some wind but this is already looking to be a miss for SW Florida.
