This campaign season makes me glad

Last edited Tue Aug 21, 2012, 10:11 AM - Edit history (1)

my husband and I don't watch broadcast/cable/satellite TV. I saw some other threads about fellow DUers lamenting the barrage of electromagnetically transmitted syrup of ipecac flowing through their living rooms and I said a small prayer of gratitude.

I'm trying to research how much television programming I can access via live streaming or downloading by getting an Apple box or Hula through my computer. I know others do it but I'm not sure yet what I can do. I already listen to public radio via my IPhone either live or on demand. It's hard not to turn on the TV - it's such a repetitive habit, hard to break.

But then we moved to the country. We have enough income for satellite but we were looking over our budget and as we surveyed the stations versus what it would cost neither one of us could make the declarative judgment, "This is worth $70 a month!"

Then I stepped-out into the sunlight, blinking in its brightness. I heard the birds singing and felt the cool morning breeze upon my cheek. A fawn nuzzled my hand as a pair of robins draped a gossamer-like silken robe about my shoulders...

OK, I made-up that last part but life does seem richer once you get rid of the hypno-cube.

.....downstreamed live on computer. What I need is a computer/TV connection. Then I don't know whether there are costly effects from hours of downloading via what ever provider you have.

I would pay to stream about ten channels and my wife probably three more. Lets see - ESPN, Golf, comcast sports net, discovery, TBS, ...and that is it I think. Wife would want bravo, lifetime (project runway). I did like the Walking Dead but I can wait for that. Oh, kids want nick and disney but netflix will hold them.
