(33,688 posts)That's a surprise.
I am glad to know that my all-time (for 35 years) celeb crush, Valerie Bertinelli, is a very liberal Democrat. Found that out a few years ago. Val!!

(13,409 posts)Most of the others came as no shock. He never seemed the brightest to me and when I saw him hawking wares for one of those "Rent to own" places, I just assumed he was a repub. I guess I'll give him some credit for seeing through the GOP's bullshit.

(13,390 posts)I love that Tommy Lee Jones is a Democrat. I told my dad about how he nominated Al Gore at the 2000 DNC and it seemed to really bother him. Like it was some redneck betrayal.
To add.. this is interesting and revealing, too.

(4,404 posts)...and that's probably my own narrow brain assuming a black man would naturally be a democrat.
Clearly that's not true of course. But I can't think of why else it would surprise me.

(3,166 posts)because I find him to be such a classy man, I don't know anything about him really but what i see on the screen and I don't find any republican classy, so that is why i am surprised

(4,404 posts)The GOP does brand some of these righty celebrities "Hollywood Republicans".
Conservative financially but socially liberal.
Not that I'm defending them for voting Republican!

(13,227 posts)Twenty years ago, Prince inexplicable donated money to a Republican Senator from Minnesota. To this day nobody knows why.
Also, rapper Eazy-E donated a couple grand to the RNC. Later, he said he did it just for the publicity and shock value.

(12,448 posts)Knowing one of the "celebrity republicans" personally, I also suspect that, while they may be registered in that party, many of them wouldn't get within 100 miles of the current insanity passing itself off as a political party. Also note how many of them are most charitably described as has-beens & wannabes.

(20,136 posts)They really had to dig to find those Republicans. I mean, Nick Lachey? And Clint Eastwood is conservative, but he's not a right-winger or a teabagger.
Also, Sarah Michelle Gellar is not a Republican. Or at least not a very good one since she is pro-choice, pro-marriage equality, and said she doesn't like organized religion.
Compare those Repubs with some of the Dems:

(2,100 posts)Always just loved loved loved her to death on Everybody Loves Raymond. I always thought she was great actress and there was a time I might have followed her in any new series she was in just because she was in it.
She's not just a Republican though, she's a super mega fundy Republican. I can't bring myself to watch her in anything anymore.
