But I'll take the weekend to savor Trump's crushing defeat, and his fecklessness after only three weeks of actual opposition. Even his staunchest supporters are questioning his invincibility.

All this "cave" talk rubs it in. He did cave. But if he gets his nose rubbed in it too much, he may do something drastic in 3 weeks, like the Nat'l Emergency thing, to prove he's not a cave man. I think the way Pelosi is handling this is better. The focus is on the result: people going back to work and getting their paychecks, the country back to normal, while Congress & the W.H. negotiate border security.

This is the first thing that came to mind.

We sit here and call this guy an asshole, then mock him when he finally does an unassholish thing.

WE are giving him the justification to be a dickhead with all this gloating and mockery.

I absolutely hate the living stars out of that m'fer, but my hatred takes a back seat to the priority of actually surviving his occupation of the presidency.

I think we should hold our nose and praise his "wisdom" in giving these poor government workers back their lives and autonomy.

Save the mockery and antagonisims for when he's not in a position to take away a million paychecks indefinitely.

I, we, don't have to just survive Trump. The rest of us out there do as well.

Please don't kick the sleeping dragon.

It's not wise to rub a loony person's nose in something, when it is apparent already. It risks an extreme reaction, with a narcissistic, egotist person hell bent on what he calls winning.

I follow Pelosi's philosophy. I think she understands all too well.

I don't think what anyone says will make a bit of difference about that emergency plan.

What I can't get over is how unhealthy he looks. His skin is terrible, and of course his weight. And there's Nancy Pelosi, six years older and looking fabulous. Of course, she has a soul.

going to post something to this effect. The better idea is to pretend we don’t know he, you know... In fact, he should be congratulated for his brilliant handling of the deepening chaos. No, it isn’t satisfying, but sometimes doing the right thing isn’t.

and rub his nose in it.

I think the way Pelosi is handling it is best. When a reporter asked her about Trump caving, she ignored that comment and just said something about how great it is to open the govt and then for Congress to work on border security.

Everyone knows he caved. That's enough. We can always rub his nose in it later.

He is an idiot but unfortunately he is in charge and does have a lot of power. It's all fun and games making fun of how fragile he is until that fragility and insecurity causes him to do something drastic. Better off playing the game like Pelosi did and working to get him out of office.

For all the celebrating about a win, there are people who are still hurting and will be for awhile because of this idiot. The whole reason he did it was to appease the nutjobs. I don't want him to do it in a few weeks and hurt people all over again. I don't think he will but people keep at it about a cave and he might do it again out of spite. That's the POS he is.

We are just daring him to be an even bigger asshole by mocking him and pointing out his weakness. You just know he will not take this well and will lash out in a way that will cause the most destruction to the Democrats and the people of this country. He has been humiliated and there is nothing that can be helped by piling on.

I think we just need to be quiet about this for a while and let it blow over. He has been defeated for now. We don't want to aggravate him to a point where he feels the need to start up again.

opening govt, while Congress & Trump negotiate the whole border security package. It extends the 2018 budget for a few weeks, so no fights over budgeting; it was approved last year.

A good bill that McConnell wouldn't pass. And now we know why: He gave it to Trump, for him to use....the one thing they knew the Democrats would be okay with.

Everyone knows this. No need for big media and the Democrats to rub his nose in it...right now. It's too dangerous.

When you're dealing with an unbalanced personality who lives his life hell bent on "winning" even unimportant things, and will risk the safety and lives of others to do so....it's not wise, when you're negotiating with him, to rub his nose in what was obviously a failure. That can be done later. He may end up going nuclear, anyway, but why irritate him to do so?
