Please give me some good news!

Hopefully nobody will flame me, but I need some good news (encouragement) about President Obama's election in November! It seems that things are not going as well as they should be right now. I've been phone banking and reading through recent polls and it appears to be getting me down.

I am just really discouraged today. Phone banking in the most rethuglican part of the state doesn't bode well for one's attitude!

I know it's early, I know I'm a punk with wobbly knees, but you are what you are. I'll be rounding up people and driving them to the polls (probably a waste of time in TN, but so be it), but I'm terrified by the trend lines at RCP. I find some solace at 538 and Intrade, but I just think the sheep are more fired up than the thinkers this time.

Second please realize that for the next 2 weeks the focus will be on the Republicans. Romney picked his VP choice and the conventions are coming up in a week. At the end of the Convention Romney will get a somewhat healthy bounce from all this effort.

If Obama has even half an amazing convention like he had in 2008 he'll swing the polls back around after our convention is done first week of September.

It's all about the convention and getting the message out to inspire not just the voters but especially the volunteers. McCain ruined his bounce by picking a piss-poor choice for VP and it went downhill from there and he even had the advantage of the 2nd convention (Incumbent party always goes last).

Best thing to say is stop looking at the polls and start volunteering to help get out the vote.
