I've come to the conclusion that given who he is and what we've witnessed over the last two + years, the only reason for Trump to capitulate was that it was somehow costing him money, and the stage of the SOTU speech.
I'd be interested in hearing your opinions but I suspect in one way or another the bottom line was stated above.

One of those scenarios were bound to happen with aircraft dodging winter storms and not enough air traffic controllers that weren't pissed off and broke.

With the highest rating blah blah blah coming up he was probably scared of getting blamed when the "fans" started getting delayed or even miss the game & hotel fee's etc....

(9,350 posts)That was one of my first questions when I heard that Donald Trump had agreed to open up the government. I wondered if his sudden willingness to open up the government was due to his not wanting to miss out on an audience cheering him in the Capitol building.
