It's always amazed me that liberals are all for killing babies, no matter how far along they are in the womb, but are dead-set against the death penalty for convicted murderers. His father Mario Cuomo was a big a-hole too. Dumped all the psychiatric centers, and closed them, and threw all the residents into the communities. It wasn't long after, that the prison system started getting those same mentally ill individuals as inmates, and it only got worse as the years passed. The prison I retired from had previously been a psychiatric center, so a lot of renovations, and additions had to be made to turn it into a Medium A facility. In NY State, a Medium A is one step below a max. But it was fun. I always said, what other place could you go to, and get paid to be entertained everyday?

I have a friend in Ellington CT, whose husband is a prison guard. The two of them could not be more opposite in their temperaments. It amuses me, because the same dynamic exists between my wife and I. I’m the impatient hard-ass, and she is the soft-spoken saint who patiently bears all.

People have often asked why I do not apply for a position as a prison guard, being 6’-3” and 210 pounds. I reply that I’ve not the temperament to process that degree of insanity, day after day... Some people have the ability to shrug off such ugliness - but I’m not among their number. As a guard, there are things one sees that cannot be unseen, and I do not want those images tattooed into my memory.
