General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsTo the 1000's of DUers that post tweets here... One simple easy tip:
For those that care, and would like to clean up your replies and posts made using Twitter links, note the DU interface has an odd quirk of displaying the URL's useless end tags (query string) right under the displayed tweet.
It's no big deal, I know, but it's also ugly and triggers us snowflakey IT types
You've all seen it 100's of times, it looks like: "?s=21" (or with a 19)
It's super easy to avoid this by just trimming off the "?s=19" found at end of the pasted URL when you make a post.
Peace friends.

(1,533 posts)If I cared about Tweets, I would see them on Twitter. If one has something to say about a tweet, fine, post it and start a discussion by saying something.
People who mindlessly post tweets without comment... just retweet it and leave it on Twitter.
Just my $0.02 and I don't much care why anyone likes it. Last thing the world needs is Evangelical Twitter users...

Love God's little verse there.
It's just amazing how you can proof read a dozen times and not see something so obvious !!

(15,115 posts)I wrote a gluten free cookbook and misspelled jalapeno (for a recipe for Fiesta Cabbage Salad). Badly.
Fortunately, a friend caught it before it went to final print.

(22,037 posts)I find that most posts of tweets are redundant, ugly and somewhat unreadable. Theyre also sloppy.
Thanks for your suggestion.

displays as

see that?
It's something that can be fixed with a little trimming.

It happens with videos too. DU just doesn't recognize the "start at" time. So, for example, if you copy a YouTube URL to start at the 2:28 mark in the video, It'll show as:
And it'll start playing right at the beginning, not at the time mark. That issue becomes important when someone posts a long video and doesn't realize it won't jump right to the part they're trying to highlight.
But like the OP said, it's not really a big deal most of the time. I'm in the habit of cleaning up the URLs from when I do the TOON posts.

(9,247 posts)...in URLs, anything after (and including the "?" usually isn't needed.
The crap following the ? is tracking info for website owners/managers (and sometimes somebody's account name or number or order number). Best to just delete it from the "?" to the end.
