at a Washington restaurant Friday night, the staff cheered and applauded Nancy Pelosi

As she left her table at a Washington restaurant Friday night, the staff cheered and applauded Nancy Pelosi. What a week she had had. Said a waitress in near tears,"We need someone who will fight for us." The Speaker carried a small white paper bag, I know not what was in it.

She's been badly underestimated by the Trumspter crowd; they thought they could roll her. Only a few short weeks ago she was disparaged by members of her own party and the press: unpopular, too old, merely hanging on for a power grab. She knew she was the best person for the Speaker's position and now everyone else should know: Nancy Pelosi holds the line. She read the Trumpster accurately and held that line for her party and the country. So, . . .

Madame Speaker. You showed the world how it's done.

As I said--members of her own party and the press disparaged her endlessly. The whole 'new faces/fresh blood' arguments circled 'round and 'round right here at DU. The same sort of dumping went on in the press.

Do Dems really want to install Nancy Pelosi as Speaker when she's so-o-o unpopular? they queried. Will they risk dampening their November victory?

Never a mention that those 'unpopular' polls were affected by the GOP's constant demonizing (cue up a HRC soundtrack). More seasoned Republicans always knew who Nancy Pelosi was and the power she could wield. They put her front and center during the midterms, the evil liberal from San Francisco. As for the Trumpster and his acolytes? They think any and every woman can be dominated. They were wrong, bigly.

The Democratic Party? Fortunately level heads prevailed. Because no one in their right mind would deliberately choose a medical student to perform heart surgery, anymore that put a raw recruit on the battlefield then name him/her General.

Once upon a time, Nancy Pelosi was underestimated. I suspect that won't happen again.

I worked in UC Berkeley and while the university gave everyone else a one time 2% raise the Teamsters negotiated a 5 year 19% raise for the staff. Our supervisors and managers truly envied us. With good reason. Then when the first 5 year contract was up they negotiated another 5 year contract! They rock!

walking a picket line in January in Minnesota in order to organize and represent a Major Wholesaler . And that caused every Employer in that Red County to raise all their wages for fear of losing their workers . BTW,many lost their workers due to expansion of that wholesaler.

Sat across the table from several Employer Legal Reps during Contract talks. Heard every name imaginable used to describe our Membership. We won every contract with the facts and the number do not lie, unless the employer was cooking the books, which by the way happened with our last Ownership Syndicate. But we did prevail.

I refuse to walk across a picket line, in LV where Hotel workers were on strike, grocery stores.

Here in the Valley, the SEIU and Culinary Workers are the two largest Unions and then it is the Laborers Union. The Teamsters are near the top, they run most of the Food Service Delliveries as well as most of the Trash Hauling.

Fun to have watched the Politics of Nevada swing 180 degrees in five years. My prediction is we will be called California East before long.

People have to beware, the M$M is not our friend. It blew the (controversy) blip out of proportion that there was a revolt against Pelosi. The right wing M$M has smeared Speaker Pelosi for a decade or longer. The reason they smeared her was because she was one of the best Speakers ever. The reason they smeared her was because she was good at her job. The reason they smeared her was because she is one of the few people on the left who can change the right wing narrative. Al Franken also was one of those people who could change the narrative.

When the M$M attacks you it is because the right fears you.

Ask anyone from the right why they hate Pelosi, why she is so bad. I guarantee you that they won't be able to give one reason.

She can now go directly to the people on her own terms!

That’s the one thing brought that has turned out to be a useful tool. People don’t have to be subjected to sound bites chosen by the networks, or ignored or taken out of context.

I marvel at the fact that our leaders can come directly to us. Not everyone gets it, but that ability changes the power dynamics completely.

And the fact that even journalists can use it to publish their opinions and not just their stories is further proof that we’re stepping into a whole other reality.

People chase off republicans from restaurants. Applaud a Democrat. Hmmm, now what does that say?

Pelosi and Hillary get standing ovations when ever they go out in public...what a contrast.
