Caller from Brownsville, Texas, to CSPAN laid out the whole anti-wall reality & ripped SHITLER

Happened to flip in just in time for the *perfect* call. The Washington Journal host opened with, "Excuse me, how do you pronounce your name?" Answer, "Guillermo." Host said he got it but didn't. Caller should have said, like Jimmy KIMMEL's sidekick.

So the caller was calm and collected. My paraphrasing from memory:

************PARAPHRASE********

I'm calling from Brownsville, Texas, one mile from the river, extreme tip of Texas, border with Mexico. I was born here at the border, have lived here all my life. We have part of the wall here and it does. not. work. It is a complete waste of money. People have always crossed here and always will. They are not terrorists. Terrorists are flying in at other parts of the country. The only way to make an impenetrable border would be to have a mile wide full of barbed wire and land mines and soldiers willing to shoot. Mr Trump came to the border, McAllen forty miles away and spent thirty minutes there and suddenly became an expert on national security. We don't negotiate with terrorists and what he did by closing down the government is nothing more than terrorism, holding the country hostage. It is just wrong for him to make the government employees work without being paid or not work at all.

*****END OF PARAPHRASE*******

The host moved on to an unrelated caller and topic without comment, looking a little shocked.

in an area with an hispanic majority. Overall (a generality of course) I found local hispanic people to be much nicer people than local anglos. Anglos mostly spent their time complaining about things, while hispanics focused on the community. As the caller noted, you basically have to recreate the Berlin Wall for two thousand miles to prevent crossovers while most foreign born terrorists enter by air. On top of that far and away the large majority of terrorist incidents in the U.S. are perpetrated by caucasian citizens that are already here.

that ended up in San Antonio by way of Padre Island, Corpus Christi, and Louisiana. A Hispanic man picked me up while I was hitchhiking and said, "Come home with me and we'll feed you and give you a place to stay tonite". I took him up on his offer and the next day I came down with the worst cold that turned into pneumonia and for two weeks he and his wife nursed me back to health, When I was feeling better he took me to his crew that was painting houses in the area and they taught me how to really paint. I mean professionally, neatly, and that has stayed with me my entire life. They never asked for compensation, nada, nothing.

I don't remember his name, but occassionally think of where I'd be if he wouldn't have helped this skinny, white 14 year old out.

He taught me more than house painting. He taught me compassion.

Sorry for the ramble, you all be good to each other, maybe 50 odd years from now someone will be talking about you on a message board.

Your screen name certainly describes you well.

We all need to hear these first-hand testimonials. THIS is the real world. Not the crap trump likes to make up, and unfortunately too many others choose to swallow whole.

Its about trump picking a fight, and he already lost it with mexico, so he's trying to start one with this to use to increase his power so he can use it on many other things. He's used that in business a lot also.

I have posted in numerous places about the fact that most of the border wall has been build in California, Arizona, and New Mexico—though some of that wall is nothing more than a fence. The border in Texas is in the middle of the Rio Grande river, with much of the land along the river privately owned and some of it dating from before Texas was even a state. Some of it is part of original Spanish land grants and I remember reading that at least one historic Spanish mission would be destroyed by building a wall. In this area, a wall would need to be built inland, which means some people would have a wall on the north side of their property, leaving them on the wrong side of the wall—essentially cut off from their own country. The Trump administration is already planning new wall in Texas, land has already been surveyed and owners told that the government is taking their property and even razing their houses.

The media needs to publicize what is actually happening on the border and how a wall would literally destroy the lives that US citizens have built. In addition, there are many businesses along the border that rely on regular shoppers from Mexico. Those communities have less crime than the rest of the US, and they haven’t had any difficulties. A wall would cost business owners their livelihoods. They can’t just start over on the US side of the wall because much of their business comes from Mexico.

We have to stop this destructive wall, but the media just focuses on the fight between Trump and Democrats. If anyone here has media contacts, please suggest that they cover this aspect. I have tried emailing MSNBC anchors, but no luck so far.

and Mexico. There is a lot of trade that goes on, including labor. People find their mates across the border, and families (hispanic and anglos) merge and extend as if there is no border or "us vs them."
