GOP delay appointing members to House intel committee is stalling investigations into Trump ...

According to a report by the Daily Beast’s Spencer Ackerman, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) has yet to appoint new Republican members to the now-Democratic-controlled House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, thereby holding back Democratic members from investigating President Donald Trump and his family members.

Three weeks into a new Congress, the Democrats have filled their open spots on the committee, while Republicans have yet to make any assignments with the exception of senior ranking Republican Rep. Devin Nunes (CA) who formerly headed the committee.

According to the report, no work has begun and McCarthy has yet to offer up members of his party to fill the spots, delaying investigations — not only into Trump — but some of his associates.

“That will be announced when it is ready,” explained Matt Sparks, a spokesperson for House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, who refused to explain the delay. The report notes that a representative for Nunes — who doesn’t make the committee picks — also refused to offer up an excuse.

and it tackled a lot of these election issues head on. Mitch McConnell's response was 100% on target for his party. He accused the Dems of tilting the playing field in their favor so that they would win elections! No, Mitch, we just want the playing field to be fair, even, and flat for a change, so the PEOPLE get to choose their representation. What a concept!

there is a way to circumvent that....least I hope so. Hold the hearings anyway, put cardboard cutouts in their seats and make sure you have tv coverage.

They've cheapened democracy. Dems should proceed without them. When Nunes chaired the committee, he made sure Dems were de facto absent from the proceedings. May need to change their name to GOS: Grand Old Saboteurs.

He is dumb as a box of rocks and not nearly as useful.

I'm not sure what the remedy is here, but there must be something. So many uncodified norms and rules will now need to be made law because of the way the GOPpers have behaved. I have a recurring fantasy (don't tell my husband) of a Dem White House, a Dem House, and a super majority in the Senate where we will wipe away the toxic sludge that is the republican party.

These stunts proactively! Pass new rules, new laws, everything possible to make this skullf*ckery by Rethuglicans impossible.
We like to say they’re dumb, but they’re smart enough to strip a governor’s power when they lose to a Democrat. They’re smart enough to stall an excellent Supreme Court nominee forever, what have we ever done to fight back?
They voted to impeach a Democratic President for lying, leaving a stain that lingers to this day, yet when we had the same opportunity against actual WAR CRIMINALS, we let them slide.
Fighting fire with fire WILL NOT lower us to their level, because our actions would be FOR THE COMMON GOOD.
