(51,623 posts)Dems do not want it and will boycott. I think is in place of a "no" vote. Will Howard's ego ignore the red flags?

And MAGA hats don't like that elitists coffee either.

(38,439 posts)..Kind of checking the cold air, before going outside. Sometimes, it is too cold, you don't go. Sometimes the rain is too hard,,you don't go outside. Lots of reasons. He will not run, if this will destroy his business. While he may have some desire to run, he is not that stupid in my opinion. But anything can happen, and it already has.

(17,276 posts)And yes their coffee is burnt and overpriced. The worst of their coffee seems to be in airport terminals!
When we are out and need to buy coffee, Peets and Caribou are good. Will drive out of our way for a Peets, right past any number of Starbucks stores.

(17,276 posts)My husband started out buying from Sweet Maria, then found a co-op which is cheaper. We buy from one of the co-op members who operates out of his home, dividing the big bags of green beans into smaller amounts.
Here is the co-op: greencoffeebuyingclub.com. If you can find a member who is driving distance like we did, you can pick it up. Otherwise you can have it sent to your home. We pay about $3.50 to $4.50 per pound in green coffee weight this way.

(60,018 posts)I am using the same stainless steel whirly pop that I bought in 2007 - 11 years old using every two weeks - Coleman stove, sitting on the front porch. My wife likes roasting day - I smell like a cup of coffee until I shower (hoping that coffee roasting smoke is nothing too bad for one's lungs)....

(17,276 posts)He roasts in the garage with the garage door open in winter, and out on the deck in the summer. Has a contraption made combining parts from a Stir Crazy popcorn maker and a convection oven. But when he started out, he used air pop popcorn makers from Goodwill. Burned out a few of those, and now the new one is higher powered and quicker.

(20,254 posts)I texted him the link to schultz likely declaring and told him to boycott starting Monday morning--tooday!!
He rings up a daily tab for around $5-6 weekdays. That amount times 20ish work days. A bit of a luxury when there's other places comparable. You fall into a habit. I don't drink coffee per se, but the ones I had there weren't that spectacular. 😏

There is one close to where I live (OF COURSE) and the pastries they have are so old you have to wonder are they just plain OLD or is it really MOLD?

(90,771 posts)...they aren't all over the country and in airports (thus, local).
Starbucks is known to be a good employer, in a country with too few of those. I've never had "smug" service -- though recently I've experienced weirdness due to people using some kind of app to call ahead. In a pinch I have purchased a meal from them, and it's been fresh and tasty enough each time.
Furthermore, I remember coffee before Starbucks. Coffee served in public spaces was often dreadful. Like battery-acid dreadful. (Denny's was a particular offender.) It was like all those eateries had a compact to put a pot on the hot-plate and leave it there for days. How they achieved that I have no idea -- they must have brewed a fresh pot some time.
After Starbucks, coffee got noticeably better nearly everywhere -- it's like they all discovered French Roast. The exception (there's always an exception) is McDonald's, which should come with a warning sign.
Anyway, no boycott from me, if for no other reason than last I heard they remain a good employer. I'm just not a regular customer. For the money, I'll buy beans from Peet's.

(8,652 posts)I bet we can more easily find another good employer to serve coffee. We won't be able to find another country.

(7,526 posts)"Bots" didn't vote for Stein, a number of people who helped switch Fl to tRump did. Enough people to flip the election could vote for a third party candidate again, especially if the Dems nominate a candidate who can't win the upper midwest by enough to overcome election meddling, etc.

(14,175 posts)Especially if Trump manages to be able to run again. The so-called moderates the Mitt Romney Republicans. The John McCain Republicans. The ones, though, that are still poisoned by Putin's trolls, and think the Clinton's, and by extension, all Democrats are not to be trusted. But they acknowledge that voting for Trump was a mistake, even if privately. And are grateful for another, big capitalist success story choice besides Trump.

Yet, look what the idiots did. Bush and Trump. I guess we'll never learn our lesson.
Instead of using his money to get Trump out of office, Schultz will use his money to siphon votes from Trump's only viable opponent.
Lenin had a name for assholes like Schultz, useful idiots. And the people who support him will be in the same category.
