A state worker alleges that his agency ignored his whistle-blower complaint against another state employee who rarely shows up to work and that the director of Gov. Tom Corbett's Northeast Regional office carried a gun at work, in violation of workplace rules.
Matthew P. Domines, a local government policy specialist with the state Department of Community and Economic Development's Scranton office, is seeking protections under the state Whistleblower Act because of fear of retaliation, according to the suit filed in state Commonwealth Court.
"Most people probably wouldn't do this," said his attorney, Brett A. Datto of the Philadelphia law firm Weir & Partners. "But he is a man of principle, and he feels this is not right."
In the suit filed Aug. 10, Mr. Domines claims another DCED employee, Steve Yokimishyn, showed up at work "only four or five Fridays" and "only five or six afternoons" over the past seven years.
