Assange is like the NYTimes editor receiving the Pentagon Papers

No more. No less. Whatever sexual pecadillo he got into abroad , honey trap or otherwise, is irrelevant. He's not an American citizen and the USA should not be able to limit his freedom of movement. And if they try we should raise bloody hell over it.
