When's the last time that Trump played golf?

Maybe I missed it but I think it's been a while. Is he worried about, Mueller, his falling poll numbers, his attacks on him from the right?

We rarely get to see video of him golfing, but it was 6 months or so ago I saw 2 separate videos. He is supposed to be a good golfer so what I saw surprised me. One video appeared to be short wedge shot, he was herky jerky and lost his balance. The other video was a short putt, he wristed and stabbed at it.

I understand about losing it golfing when one gets older, I'm 71, and I used to be pretty good back in the day. What I saw from Trump was not a swing of a good golfer. I golf with an 85 year old guy who routinely shoots his age and his swing is better than Trumps.

I think he wished he never ran for president. It caused something terrible to happen in his life, it affected his golf game. Bwahahaha, and where is Melania?

3. But for what it's worth, this has been his longest period of not golfing in his presidency

I read that somewhere recently. Maybe one of his advisors told him that golfing during the shutdown would send the wrong message.

4. republicans going to squander millions of our hard-earned tax dollars

to pamper their Dirty Donny* with golden, glorious, gourmet, luxurious golf weekend at his fabulous, taxpayer-supported mansion, hanging with his billionaire republican homies. Sick shit.

republicans are throwing our tax money away to pamper a so-called republican "billionaire" who is deeply in debt to the evil empire** of russia. Sick shit.

So far republicans have squandered About $84,000,000 of our money on him. But this superbowl party weekend with his billionaire homies (R) will no doubt rip us off for several more million of our dollars. Screw job (R)

2. That Swing Is Not Age Related
Tue Jan 29, 2019, 08:20 AM
Jan 2019

It's just a crappy swing.
Age shortens the swing, decreases arm speed and release speed.
A crappy swing at 71 means he had a crappy swing at 31.
He's way over the top, steep and his putting stroke is a jab.
Just bad mechanics and absent the cheating, he was never shooting a low score.
Score goes down a lot when every 4 footer is a gimmie!

and don't forget the mulligans, do overs, and foot wedges. My 85 year old buddy would refuse to mark down his score on a hole if he saw him roll his ball.

Trump's putting stroke is what shocked me.

10. Good analysis

Trump brags that he's never taken a lesson and it shows. He also claims that he is a low single digit handicapper which is not believable. This is particularly true, as you point out, when he rakes in his putts instead of holing out.

Before he announced his candidacy, I played at his course in the Bronx, NY. It's situated right on the upper East River and has spectacular views of the New York City skyline. One pays for that view and my weekday afternoon round was $150 and I didn't take the motor cart. It was a nice links style course but it was full of gimmicks. The fairways were lined with mounds of grass about two feet high that looked like ant hills. If you hit into them, count carefully because it was easy to get confused. Additionally, many of the greens-- which were very fast-- had collection areas behind them that were not visible from the field resulting in too many of my approach shots rolling off the back.

The best, though was a par-3, where there was a large brass plaque next to the teeing ground that said Trump had aced the hole on the inaugural round. The egoism is very rich but it's also not believable given his propensity to lie.

But the real story is even better. Occasionally, I play with a manager of a Long Island course and he is friends with Trump's head groundkeeper. When Trump got his "hole-in-one," they had cut 8 or 10 holes on each green in order to learn how the contours would play. Trump's ball did not go into the hole that had the flagstick in it but he decided to claim the ace anyway.

He's pathetic. And he cheats just like in the rest of his miserable life.

12. This doesn't surprise me, even though I'm not a golfer

First of all it would surprise me if he ever had any real lessons because we know how bad he is at listening to anyone with any expertise. Secondly a good golf swing takes practice, hard work, mental discipline and time sacrificed. Thirdly a golfer who cheats on score-keeping is never going to improve their game, no matter how often they play.

13. Other Than The Lesson Part, You're Right

Aside from people with high aspirations that can accept zero flaws in overall mechanics, one can teach one's self a very sound, repeatable swing. Then practice and repetition can get it pretty locked.
I'm 4 handicap and taught myself the game except for some book fundamentals from my dad (He never broke 100)
Full disclosure, I took one half hour lesson when MS took the forward sight from my left eye.
I wanted an expert to watch to make sure the change I came up with to see the at the top of my swing was mechanically sound.
I was already a scratch player and we changed almost nothing, but he did find a good crosscheck.
Trump is a shitty golfer because he's bad at everything and golf is no exception, but not because he didn't take lessons.

8. He probably would have come to Mar a Lago last weekend

But the weather was horrible. Windy and rainy all weekend.

I suspect that the understanding of him "being a good golfer" comes from the same source as him being first in his class, Wharton Grad, stable genius, etc. In other words, right from his derriere.
