He made a full throated defense of Schultz while Nichole and her guests fumed. Matt Miller made the best argument. Steve had been saying Howard saw a broken system and can't support the Dems because of their tax the rich policy. Miller said his argument is outrageous because it assumes both sides do it and their is not one Dem in the race half as bad as Trump and he decided to run BEFORE the proclamations of tax the rich from the Dems.
Steve is on board which I find kind of sad but Nicole and the other pushed back hard. Jason Johnson's comments were also excellent calling it a vanity run with no chance of winning.

(15,412 posts)I'm not sure I've seen anything announced but he has said if Schultz runs he'll work for him. Today he said Schultz has not decided if he will run or not but it was clear he was in close communication with Schultz. He kinda pissed me off today and I was curious to see what side Nicole would take. She was pissed at Steve too, for supporting Schultz. I think other than that they are good friends.

(10,252 posts)Republicans just cannot accept that some forms of socialism are more efficient, less expensive way to deliver services than corporate capitalism.

(15,412 posts)the thing that pissed me off the most was Steve engaged in both sides do it ism. Before that he was all in with the Dems. Now, not so much.
I suspect Schultz will either not run or he will moderate his position on Dems. Nichol pointed out that Schultz was a Dem most of his life or at least the last few years but so was Trump so why should we trust Schultz.
May you live in interesting times.

(4,066 posts)He's a Republican. He was the person who brought us Palin.
The only reason anyone here likes him is because he doesn't like Trump. Well, that's just not enough. The enemy of my enemy is not necessarily my friend. When it's a GOP operative who has operated at the highest levels that is very much the case. He is not and has not ever been a friend of Democrats. We only share common cause with him on Trump.
In all other respects he's a disgusting GOP operative who works against our progressive agenda any way he can.

(3,739 posts)I seemed to me like Steve was trying to backpedal the whole thing. I thought I heard him say that Schultz hadn't really even decided if he was going to run. It's obvious that Schultz isn't enjoying all the criticism and anger coming his way and may just let the whole thing hang out there while he tries to make money on his book tour and not actually get in the race after all. When your spokesperson spends half the time telling people "He hasn't decided yet if he is even going to run"...That looks like a candidacy that is dead in the water.
Schultz's visit to Morning Joe was a total disaster too. The more he talked, the more obnoxious he got.

(37,161 posts)...because the alternative is blaming Republicans -- and specifically conservatives -- for the broken system, and that's his team. He spent his career trying to break the system so that his fellow conservatives could finally eliminate every last remnant of the New Deal. To get the electoral wins to do it he and his fellow now-"NeverTrumpers" help build the rageaholic base that, surprise!, backed a guy who gave them a purer hit of rage.
He was always going to shiv us in the kidneys at the first opportunity.
