William Weld fmr Gov of MA is considering challenge to Trump on Repub ticket

https://www.wcvb.com/article/former-mass-gov-william-weld-to-announce-possible-run-for-president/26092546

Supposedly he could announce as early as today, he has taken a leave of absence from his law office.

Although he was the VP candidate on the Libertarian ticket in 2016, he is considered a moderate Repub - not sure why the neverTrumpers wouldn't get behind him rather than Schultz.

Since I was totally unable to predict that Trump would win the Electoral College vote, I don't trust my predictive abilities on who this would impact the most. I suppose it will all depend on who our GE candidate is.

that whole libertarian fiasco lost him a lot of credibility.

(probably, even among libertarians).

But if he wants to try - go ahead. The more that oppose the idiot-in-chief from his own party, the better.

I appreciated that he stood up for Hillary against James Comey even in disagreement with his running mate.

Seems like a decent amount of Repubs are looking to recapture their party so I hope that provides an opening for him. Obviously with the intent that he eats into Trump's votes.

I kept shouting "Vicente Fox!" at the TV! I was really shouting at Governor Weld, and was hoping he'd step in since I'm sure he knew...
