(12,904 posts)He should announce at 2:40 that he is going to work as a full time volunteer with his states race relations advocacy groups immediately.
He walk himself right back into that governor mansion six years from now, when the new governor of Virginia leaves to assume higher office.
Easy peasy.

Didnt know. Innocent. Not him. But needs to be forgiven anyway. Whitesplaining. Good Christian. Has prayed. Not him though. Never saw the picture before. Not him. Previous apology was hasty because hes so sympathetic and empathetic to other peoples pain. Nevertheless it was not him. Likes Michael Jackson. Dressed up as him and used shoe polish on his face. Needed someone else to explain why blackface is racist. In 2019! Not him. Not him. Not him.
I notice his face seems to be getting redder and redder.
Blather, blah, blah, blather, blather.

(23,962 posts)or he could simply go back to being a Republican. then he could wear his prior racist antics with pride and claim they were perfectly appropriate in context, while riding the wave of implicit forgiveness allocated to any Republican officeholder.
the media's on a Democratic impurity feeding frenzy. they won't stop until he steps down or a bigger Democratic purity scandal comes along. this is not simply going away with handwaving and apologies. the longer he holds onto the governorship, the worse it will get.
the standards are unequal, to be sure, but they didn't get like that overnight. the Republicans spent decades and billions of dollars "working the refs" while Democrats took stands on racial and sexual equality. both situations are coming into play now, he's going to get worked from both sides and poison the news cycle until he's gone.
time to go, governor.
