resident Trump's persistently mysterious, winter-defying tan is the result of “good genes,” according to the White House’s official line on his complexion. A top administration official also told the New York Times that Trump applies a dab of powder prior to television appearances. The official said, however, that this power was translucent and not a bronzer. Former aide Omarosa Manigault Newman had claimed in a book on her time in the Trump administration that he used a tanning bed (no such evidence exists).

I always thought it was a spray tan. Whoever does it for him doesn't know how to blend the edges. He usually has sharp lines where the makeup or spray-tan ends.

Tan skin is neutral. It's neither good nor bad, so "good genes" are irrelevant.

Tanning with makeup can be ugly, though.

I have good "tanning" genes. My gym has one of those corrugated, plastic roofs over the pool. It lets enough UV light come through that I get a pretty decent tan while I'm swimming for an hour once or twice a week--even in the middle of winter. I don't turn orange, and I don't have white raccoon eyes. It never ceases to amaze me that the actually thing people are going to believe this kind of shit.
