Don't they have at least 1 black person in their company that can point this shit out to them?
ROME Gucci has apologized for a wool sweater after complaints that it resembled blackface makeup and said the item had been pulled from its online and physical stores.
It was the latest case of an Italian fashion house having to apologize for cultural or racial insensitivity.
In a statement posted on Twitter on Wednesday, Gucci said it was committed to diversity and considered it a "fundamental value to be fully upheld, respected and at the forefront of every decision we make."

(14,532 posts)I am off my game, lately. I couldn't decide if it was sarcasm or an honest question. As a self proclaimed queen of sarcasm, I am not amused with myself.

(3,051 posts)I thought it was the lips WITH the black.
I file this under the same file as Nike getting sued because a shoe sole design kinda, sorta, maybe, looked like the word "Allah" if you squinted and looked at it sideways.
Anyway, I kind of think this is a clever idea. Get rid of the "lips" and offer in a variety of colors and call it good.

(146,317 posts)Interestingly enough, if you search Google images for "balaclava," you'll see that most of them are in black. There are other colors, but black dominates.
Weird and disturbing, I think. I think I'll just keep wrapping a scarf around my face when I'm snowblowing.
