Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-HI) on Thursday slammed her Republican colleagues on the Senate Judiciary Committee for pushing through a large number of President Donald Trumps right-wing nominees.
At a hearing to discuss attorney general nominee William Barr, Hirono turned her attention to 40+ judicial nominees that the committee is expected to confirm.
This week, I would like to focus on some of the nominees
that are part of this administrations effort to pack our federal courts with ideologically-driven nominees, Hirono told the committee. Who gets on the federal court for life is high stakes. Just ask the Federalist Society and the Heritage Foundation who have spent decades and lots of money placing people who are on their ideological page on our federal courts.
The senator noted that over 80 percent of the presidents nominees are members of the conservative Federalist Society.

(63,881 posts)of all this??? When do we say ENOUGH, or will it be when they take everything away from us. They have already proved by the shutdown they don't give a rat's ass about America's citizens.
All I keep remembering is when Rex Tillerson knew about the effects of oil production on the climate and he said people will adapt.
That's a scary thought. Are they thinking we will adapt to a fascist country????

(82,849 posts)I'd bet a very large majority of citizens have no idea how the federal judiciary is being tilted against them. If we remain quiet, nothing will happen to change that: Republicans aren't going to suddenly sprout a conscience or a sense of the public good. It starts by complaining about the problem. Keep talking, Sen. Hirono, and I hope your colleagues make noise, too.
