More National Enquirer blackmail bombshells predicted after alleged Bezos extortion bid massively backfiresBRAD REED 08 FEB 2019 AT 13:01 ET
David Pecker and Donald Trump (Screen cap).
The major scandal brewing around the National Enquirers apparent attempt to blackmail Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos may be about to get even more explosive.
It will all come out now, predicted the source, who also said that they were familiar with more people who had been subjected to treatment similar to what happened to Bezos.
So far, New Yorker reporter Ronan Farrow, as well as MSNBCs Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, have all accused the National Enquirer of trying to blackmail them by vowing to publish damaging stories about them unless they agreed to their demands.
Scarborough and Brzezinski went so far as to accuse President Donald Trump of urging the Enquirer to threaten to publish information about their relationship unless they gave him more positive coverage, although the president denied these allegations.

OP
One reason I think Trump may be behind the attempted coercion: it's going to hell.

Trump is such a petty asshole. He thinks things up without being able to foresee what the likely result is.

Donald Trump
Peckers fawning relationship with Donald Trump started long before the scheme to help his campaign.
As the New Yorker noted, Pecker created a custom-publishing division at Hachette when he was president, in which he would produce magazines for clients. He launched and produced Trump Style, a glossy magazine dedicated to Trumps wealth and extravagance, for five years. Through it, he met, and came to admire, the future president.
While the coverage of Trump was consistently sycophantic over the years Pecker ran AMIhe made no secret of looking out for his friendthat devotion crossed into scandal in 2015, when he paid $30,000 to Dino Sajudin, a doorman at Trump World Tower, to stop him from going public with (somewhat dubious) allegations that Trump had had an affair in the 1980s that resulted in a child. AMI sources later told the New Yorker that the company had kept Cohen up to date with its investigation into Sajudin, and Cohen told the Associated Press that he had discussed Sajudins story with the magazine when the tabloid was working on it.
From there, Pecker and AMI would continue to do what they could to protect Trumps reputation before the election.

(297,295 posts)11. Puppetrump "denies" Everything..
it means Less than Zero.
They have some real geniuses over there at AMI.. putting their extortion in writing for Jeff Bezos. I hope Joe and Mika have it in writing and Ronan Farrow, too.
We know trump danced on the grave of the divorce of Jeff and McKenzie Bezos.. in a tweet. I saw it on Rachel's show via youtube.
And, AMI is desperate to keep their extortion from being deemed "Political".
