There are almost a dozen candidates currently announced for the 2020 Democratic presidential primary season. That group will still grow some more. Among those running are some who would be terrific Democratic nominees, including several accomplished and progressive women. We are blessed with a wealth of choices.
Some people have already begun to champion a particular candidate, and that's fine. However, it can be a mistake to put all of one's energy into a single candidate this early. Instead, I recommend paying close attention to all of them and letting the field sort itself out on its own. There is no rush at this time.
Some of the current hopefuls aren't really running to be President. Some are running to be in the running to be the candidate for Vice President. They won't say that, of course, but it's true. Others are extreme long shots for either position, but amazing things can happen during the course of a campaign.
Let's celebrate the riches of our list of potential nominees. Let's look at each of them as a possible contender. As we get into 2020, the field will winnow itself out and we'll begin to see a picture of the front-runners. There's no need to choose a champion just yet. We'll gain more by watching the entire field, i think.

Democrats will run on the issues they ran on in 2018 Mid terms. Healthcare, the Economy, the Enviornment, etc.
Republicans cannot run on tax cuts.

(21,757 posts)I will vote for the person who says he/she will overturn EVERY executive Oder Trump has signed on day one.
Just line up a slew of their own EO's and sign, sign, sign. Erase Trump from history!

(146,338 posts)I think most of them would do that. I'm more interested in broader proposals from Democratic candidates. I want to see what each of them has as favorite issues. I've never been a single-issue voter. I am concerned about a broad spectrum of things, so I'm interested in what priorities candidates have among those issues.
Being President is a complicated job. It's not just about particular concerns. I want a President who is capable of working on multiple goals simultaneously. We'll see what they all have to say.
