Schiff looking for Deutsche Bank Trump records that Mueller appears not to have got

Josh Marshall at TPM points this out:

A Deutsche Bank subpoena would be especially sensitive. Trump was enraged by a December 2017 report that special counsel Robert S. Mueller III had subpoenaed the bank’s records about its dealings with Trump, telling his then-lawyer John Dowd, “This is bull----!,” according to Bob Woodward’s book “Fear.”

The red line apparently held, then. Trump lawyer Jay Sekulow told Reuters: “No [Deutsche Bank] subpoena has been issued or received.” One government source speculates that Rod J. Rosenstein, the deputy attorney general, blocked any attempt to compel disclosure of the bank’s Trump file records to avoid getting himself or Mueller fired.

But this ring-fencing of Trump’s finances is ending. Schiff told me: “We do want information from Deutsche Bank, and we have every expectation that they will cooperate with us.”

A Deutsche Bank spokesman reiterated to me a previous statement that the bank “has received an inquiry” from the House Intelligence and Financial Services committees, which are working in tandem, and is talking with those committees “to determine the best and most appropriate way of assisting them . . . [and] providing appropriate information to all authorized investigations.”

Marshall comments "The thing is that Ignatius is one of the most wired people in Washington when it comes to the nexus of international spycraft and US politics. His columns are frequently based on more than he can or chooses to explicitly reveal."

Have to think Mueller would not ignore that bank.

figure out what has been going on.

To also have to curtail parts of the investigation because Trump will wade in and start firing folks and maybe shut the investigation down - has to make his job way tougher.

Nov 2018 vote may be the difference maker here.

"Yes, this is Donald.."

"Yessir, how may I help you, Mr Trump?"

"We have a very good working relationship...it would be terrible if something were to happen to it... "

"Yes, Mr Trump."

"Some Democrat politicians will be inquiring about our business together... Do not give it to them."

president. They took Russian money, then helped him cover his backside. The first hint that something was not quite right, was him hiding his tax reports. EVERYONE else has handed over their tax returns, except this crook. He has lied about everything, and the gop supports this. Imagine if a democratic nominee had acted like tRump? The articles of impeachment would have been ready and waiting immediately after the inauguration. tRump was never qualified for the job, the gop knew that from the start. Look how many changed their tune after golfing with the orange menace. Many of his actions should have been stopped. Giving Kushner top security clearance, after it was denied, was a HUGE red flag. Having vacuous Ivanka as his top aide was really asinine. She is no more qualified for that position than she is anything else. We now have a con man as president, a former escort as "first lady" and the tRump family running the government. Anyone who votes gop after this disaster, needs a mental competency test.

This paragraph has a whole lot of bubblegum:

The red line apparently held, then. Trump lawyer Jay Sekulow told Reuters: “No [Deutsche Bank] subpoena has been issued or received.” One government source speculates that Rod J. Rosenstein, the deputy attorney general, blocked any attempt to compel disclosure of the bank’s Trump file records to avoid getting himself or Mueller fired.

1. "The red line apparently held, then." Unless Mueller's team has suddenly become talkative, this is akin to speculating that there's no text behind the black marks in all those published court documents.

2. "Trump lawyer [...] told [...] " -- isn't that enough to discount any truthfulness in whatever follows?

3. "One government source speculates [...]". And this non-government source speculates that Mueller and Rosenstein seem to be doing lots of stuff without first outlining their actions for the D.C. gossip circle.
