a couple things about the reporting, tho.

aurora is not really a suburb. it is an old city, at the very end of the commuter line. it sorta is now, as people who work in the city move farther and farther out, but in my day few people worked in the city.

it is 40 miles from chi, not 30.

it is in kane county, tho small parts of the city are in other counties.

and yes, it suck to see your hometown on the news for something like this.

Love Aurora, they have a great brewery right next to the train station. So sad to see this going on ANYWHERE - but when it is in a community you've been to, there are no words.....

They moved the Aurora supercharger to Woodman’s (employee-owned, MASSIVE, inexpensive supermarket — Costco sized but FAR more variety and you can purchase everything in convenient small quantities) which is also cool, but I miss stopping at the brewery for a sandwich while charging.

A man who was being fired from his job shot dead five people and injured several others at his workplace in the US state of Illinois, police say.

The gunman was killed during an exchange of fire with police officers. Five officers were shot and wounded.

Police named the gunman as Gary Martin, 45, who had worked at the Henry Pratt company for 15 years.

Aurora police chief Kristen Ziman said late on Friday they had information that his employment was being terminated that day.
