While promoting his new movie about President Obama on conservative radio shows, Dinesh DSouza accused Obama of viewing the U.S. as an evil empire while sympathizing with anti-American terrorists.
DSouza told Frank Gaffney on Secure Freedom Radio that Obama subscribes to a very radical Third World ideology and that he thinks from Obamas point of view we are the evil empire.
In an interview with Janet Mefferd, DSouza claimed that Obama is weirdly sympathetic to Muslim jihadis who are captured in Iraq or Afghanistan and views those guys in favorable terms. DSouza says Obama thinks America is an evil power and sees the Muslims who are fighting against America as freedom fighters.
According to DSouza, this is all because of Obamas lefty mom who wanted to marry a Third World anti-American guy and cultivated in Obama this sort of anti-capitalist and somewhat anti-American ideology. DSouza explains that Obamas mom rebelled against her family and her church and her country and saw America as a force for evil in the world, and Obama learned from her and his leftist surrogate fathers a Third World ideology.

Yeah, Obama was REAL sympathetic to that one terrorist in Pakistan though. Who was that guy again?
This isn't even a case of "I reject your reality and substitute my own!", this is more like "I reject your reality and... wait, what is reality again?"

After 9/11 Bush arranged for the bin Laden residing in the USA to fly out of the USA when no one else was able to fly. Now tell me who is soft on the bin Laden family.

(2,198 posts)I believe they are "freedom fighters" even though I don't believe in what they are fighting for. A true "terrorist" to me is someone who is fighting for or killing just for the sake of it and not for any selfless cause. We called the S. African fighters "terrorists" just because they were fighting to get their own country back, same with the Palestinians. Some folks aroung the world call the US military terrorists. That word is used by so-called civilized people to evoke fear and hate and most of us fall for it everytime, especially if it's used to describe people we don't like.

(6,960 posts)This D'Souza propaganda from his movie '2016' is starting to crop-up on my Facebook page from my right-wing nut 'friends'.
The thing that is revealing once again is how fact free the righties are are ... there are not 'facts' in anything D'Souza says, it is all just what he thinks about Barack Obama. But the Obama-haters are eating this up and vomiting it up in Facebook posts like it was some great new information.
I would sure like to see some group like Think Progress or Media Matters do a point-by-point rebuttal of the movie. I know it won't change the mind of the Obama-haters, but it would be good to have the material with which to push back.

A multiple choice menu will then pop up asking why you are hiding this ad. In these cases, I hit the "Offensive" button. Do that a few times, and you'll see no more right-wing ads.

DSouza and Rev. Moon
Posted by Ed Brayton on May 26, 2008
Theres an interesting story about Dinesh DSouza and Rev. Moon in John Gorenfelds new book Bad Moon Rising. During Moons stay in prison in the early 80s, the Unification Church began a massive PR campaign to resurrect his reputation, particularly among Christian churches and conservative leaders. Kits were sent out to thousands of churches, ministers and organizations that urged them to view Moons imprisonment on tax evasion charges as an attack on religious freedom by secular humanists.
At the time, Dinesh DSouza was a young scholar at the Heritage Foundation and he wrote an article for Policy Review, the house journal of the Foundation, about Moon and his involvement with so many prominent conservative leaders. He interviewed a large number of conservatives about Moon. The article was titled On Moons Planet: The Theology and Politics of the Unification Church.
He noted that a number of prominent conservative individuals and organizations had accepted Moons money over the years. But he also noted, Others keep their distance but are not willing to say so publicly. One reason is a reluctance to embarrass friends at the Washington Times. He told Eric Alterman:
What I cant figure out is whether Moon is trying to purchase respectability for his theology, or whether he wants to jettison his theology in order to purchase respectability for himself.
It seems that DSouza has managed to get over his discomfort over taking money from Moon, however. In May 2007, while promoting his book that claims that liberalism is to blame for provoking the Islamic terrorists, he was paid to speak at an event in Washington DC sponsored by the Universal Peace Federation and the Washington Times Foundation. All of a sudden, he claims total ignorance. I know almost nothing about Moon, he told Gorenfeld in an email. Right.
