I still voted Democratic in 2018. Might as well reflect that.

Independents remain the largest bloc of voters.

And you seem very unfamiliar with the 2016 election.

Are you a new citizen?

You pull a ballot when you vote, there is no Party registration to vote.

after a long absence as an unaffiliated voter (Kansas) simply BECAUSE of Bernie last time. I almost decided to go back to that designation but because of the state mess I did not.

I know a lot of people who move the the Democratic party because of Bernie. Hmmmmmm.

I have several friends, won’t say “a lot of people” who did the opposite, left the Democratic party after the last primaries, but then again, this is Seattle. Actually a couple of them are in Arizona. They’re still stuck in the “corporate oligarch billionaire class neo-lib” name calling kind of crap. They’re still my friends, but I don’t talk politics with them.

and you can switch on that day and switch back during a certain limited amount of time before the election.

Because of very poor party work in my state and the fact that I was completely disgusted with the movement of the party here that I left it. I was in it before and was a delegate to the second caucus and was told at the door if I did not cast my vote for who they wanted, who was not who I was sent from my caucus to represent, that my vote would not be counted or it would be counted the way they wanted it to be counted. It went from there to stupid, elite Dems and spending state money to do dumb ass things that had nothing to do with moving the party ahead but guaranteed them a good party anyway.

It is working a little better now, it goes back and forth with the elites always climbing over the top of things. I think we are moving forward again after all these years but it is going to be a long struggle. That is why I am staying, at least for the time being, in the party. My work is outside the "party" with a couple of groups and it is very loose as I am very busy in my life and just not young enough to do it all anymore. I am hoping to get back into a few things this summer.

Anyway, that is my explanation. I wanted to do a caucus vote for Bernie. I think people who leave often have a good reason. If you are not in the position to do much about things it can be very frustrating so I help in the way back background, perhaps some of them are too?
