On July 27, 2008 an anti gay gunman shot two people to death in a Knoxville Unitarian Church specifically because it was a gay friendly church. In the aftermath of that shooting not one anti gay group issued a statement of condolence for the victims (I searched on google and found the blogs of the FRC, the AFA, and NOM and none of them had any such statements) nor did such statements show up on google.
On August 15, 2012 there was a shooting at the FRC headquarters in DC. In hours every national gay group put out a statement condemning the shooting.
That might be why I would be afraid to kiss another man in a crowd in several states but not be afraid to carry a Bible anywhere.

He really wanted to kill the people in Bernard Goldberg's book, "100 People Who Are Screwing Up America," but since he couldn't get them, he choose the Unitarian church.
Jim D. Adkisson Charged In Tennessee Church Shooting That Killed 2
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/07/28/jim-d-adkisson-charged-in_n_115281.html
A four-page letter found in Jim D. Adkisson's small SUV indicated he intentionally targeted the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church because, the police chief said, "he hated the liberal movement" and was upset with "liberals in general as well as gays."
~snip~
Adkisson "stated that he had targeted the church because of its liberal teachings and his belief that all liberals should be killed because they were ruining the country, and that he felt that the Democrats had tied his country's hands in the war on terror and they had ruined every institution in America with the aid of the major media outlets," Investigator Steve Still wrote.

We were saddened to hear news of the shooting this morning at the offices of the Family Research Council. Our hearts go out to the shooting victim, his family, and his co-workers.
